Fred Dekker knows who owns "Monster Squad" & "Night of the Creeps", let's write!

found this over at www.horrordvds.com:

Fred Dekker dug up the address for the rights holders to both MONSTER SQUAD and his previous film, NIGHT OF THE CREEPS (which also screened last weekend and got the midnight audience pumped up as well). So, if you want either MONSTER SQUAD or NIGHT OF THE CREEPS in a special edition with cast commentary, special features (he mentioned over 13 minutes were cut out of MONSTER SQUAD for time) and digitally remastered picture and sound, then you need to write to the addresses below. Keep it civil, but let them know how much you love the movie. Send a postcard, letter, brick, flowers... anything that'll show the studio you want to buy this DVD.

If you want a MONSTER SQUAD DVD write to:
Mr. Sumner M. Redstone
Viacom
1515 Broadway
New York, NY 10036

If you want a NIGHT OF THE CREEPS DVD write to:
Mr. Michael Lynton
Mr. Bob Osher
Sony Pictures Entertainment
10202 West Washingtopn Blvd.
Culver City, CA 90232

Now we've been pushing this on DEADPIT.com since the beginning, but ONLY THE FANS can make this happen, send as many nice non-threatening letters as you can! And always remember:
I'm sending out letters tomorrow. Anyway, after much debate we at least now know which studio owns the film, Paramount has "The Monster Squad" and Sony has "Night of the Creeps."

Good work! I remember Night of the Creeps more than Squad, but Dekker needs some DVD vindication!

By the way, is "Michael Allred" THE Micheal Allred?

Mr. Madman doesn't have the trademark on the name. As far as I'm concerned, there is no "THE Michael Allred."

I only cut & pasted it, lol.

I suppose one could just simply write to Paramount.

It's owned by MGM, who made a new HD widescreen master, but now that Sony controls MGM, you have to ask Sony, who probably rather have you triple dip on 13 GOING ON 30!

So whats the floor number digitalfreak said we should put on it??

To make sure he gets the letter, one could spend a couple of extra dollars to require a signature, right?

The Horror Channel had an article on this screening on April 17 and they listed the rights owners as HBO and Lion's Gate.

I didn't. It would depend on which company he was working for in viacom. There are a lot of them. Or is Viacom the rights holder? Who would be the distributor?

Lions Gate absolutely does NOT own "The Monster Squad." They had it briefly a few years ago (or rather, Artisan did) but that expired. That article clearly has old info.

I'd really love to see Monster Squad on DVD. I think I have an old VHS copy recorded off HBO in 1988 or 1989. I'd glady pay for a DVD in OAR, special features would just be icing on the cake.
