I'm sure this has been discussed here, but after wading through a couple long threads of search results, and looking at a couple other sites, I couldn't find a complete answer. Basically, what is the difference between the latest "Don't Call Me Shirley" edition of Airplane! and the older release?

The earler one is anamorphic, with a commentary track. Is the transfer or commetary different on the newer one, or is it just the "Long haul" version that's added? And if anyone who has seen the newer one with the added scenes, are they worth it? Thanks for any help.

I've been led to understand it's a new transfer and definitely new commentary.

We made the mistake of sitting through the "long haul" at a friend's a few weeks back.
The thing clocks in around 3 and 1/2 hours, but as for deleted scenes, there were only
two short bits (and they were both better off cut). It's comprised mostly of cuts to
interviews with the directors and actors (the former of which are pretty much the only
ones with anything remotely interesting to say) and not only completely kills the flow
of the film (which you'd assume it would anyway), but ruins a bunch of the jokes by
analyzing them JUST BEFORE they play out in the film (there's also a comparison that's
shown to another film that, at least for me, ruined a lot of my appreciation for Airplane
in that it wasn't as "original" as I'd thought). As we were watching it my friend would
periodically put his hand over the counter on the dvd player and ask how far into the
actual film we were (the cutaways are done via branching), that's how much it drags
the film down. The 1st 15 or 20 minutes takes about an hour alone
