Did Playstation 3 Preorders already happen in your area???
I went to ask about pre-ordering a Playstation 3. Figuring it was 6 months away and had plenty of time.
Low and behold, I was told pre-orders were taken already a couple months ago.
What the hell. No notice. nothing. I suppose they were reserved for friends of employees. Because I heard not one word.
Did your area already take pre-orders?

I was told by my local Gamestop and EBgames that no preorders would take place until an official price was given. The store reps said to expect a press release some time around E3.

I put $50 down at Game Crazy, but I'm like #40 on their list, so that's pretty useless. Hopefully I can re-up at EB Games after E3.

I'm waiting for the infamous $1000 packages that many online retailers do. I'll just pick up one of those (they hung around for quite a while for the 360, hopefully the same consumer delay with PS3).

I'm gonna put all my eggs in one basket and just wait until I get an invite to the special pre-order that BestBuy.com will probably have. Yeah, I know they didn't invite me for the PSP one or the 360 one, but that just means my time is coming, right??
On a more serious note, hopefully I can get a decent spot on a Gamestop list.

I'm waiting for my local GAMERUSH to start taking pre-orders. I have over $350 in credit. I really don't want a Ps3, but the Blu-ray player seems interesting.

Yeah I got a lift few days ago and no one would even put me on call list yet. This really makes me nervous as during the last system launches I had PS3 and Cube reserves back in Jan with only $10 down on each.

I thought the xbox 360 would be easy to get at $400, I was wrong. I really believe that the ps3 could go for $700, and you still wouldn't be able to get it on launch day with all the Blue Ray people trying to get their hands on it.

I am planning on going every day the week of E3. My guess is that they will start taking pre-orders on Thurs or Fri after Sony announces pricing.
Here's a quesiton for you guys: I usually pre-order at EBGames or Gamestop. Did anybody have any luck pre-ordering the 360 at TRU? What system do they use for pre-orders? When did they start taking orders?

Add to this all of us with HDTV's who will be looking for Blu-ray players.
Then, you have all the scalpers.
Yep... No question this system will be in high demand around the holiday season.
Bound to be even worse than the XBox fiasco last year. Possibly as ridiculous and even more so than the Playstation 2 launch.

I remember the PS2 launch well... Went to WalMart at 5AM there were about 100 people in line in front of us. The fuckers waited until 6:50 to let the line know they had 20 systems. Damn near a riot.
I finally got one a few weeks later at EB and the wench pushed the service contract like nothing I have ever witnessed. Huge line and she asked me at least six times about getting the contract. She said people were having problems nationwide with the system. I calmly told her that if my system is defective, then by law they have to replace it for me or refund my purchase price. You don't need a contract for that type of protection.

I'm starting to become torn about this. I haven't preordered yet and frankly I'm thinking of switching teams and just buying a 360. I've always been a PS guy but the 360's readily available now most of the time and I'm getting sick of waiting to take things to the next level in terms of graphics and gameplay.
So, should I preorder, wait and wait, or should I jump ship and go 360? Anyone?
