Apple Ipod Replacement Battery Program - Anyone done it?

I just bought a replacement battery for my ipod from ebay. It comes with two tools, and let me tell you using those tools to crack open your ipod is easier than running a hot knife through butter - not!

I've not given up trying to get into it yet, but I was intrigued to read that if you do the $59.95 Apple Ipod Battery Replacement Program they basically replace the ipod. Now given that my ipod is a 3G, abd they don't make these any more, what are the chances that they upgrade the ipod while they have it?

I'd be interested to know everyone's experience wih this program... or if you've managed to get into your ipod without breaking those crappy little tools the replacement batteries come with

I'd just like to know what's up with the battery settlement. I sent in my form over a year ago, and haven't heard anything since.

I can't answer your question myself, but if you don't get any responses here you can ask at the forums over at www.ilounge.com. They've been very helpful to me.

I would like to know also. I sent in my replacement form last year and haven't heard anything. I am sick of having an iPod whose battery lasts 15 minutes.

You might check over in the Tech Talk forum - there's a semi-perpetual iPod support thread over there.
