X-Files Collector's Edition Seasons 4, 5 & 6 - $37.99 @ Best Buy (YMMV)

File this under a YMMV but when I purchased Seasons 4, 5 & 6 of the Collector's Edition (not the new versions that come out 3/28/06) of the X-Files at Best Buy today, they all rang out at the $37.99 sale price and got the $30 discount for purchasing three volumes. Not sure if this is a system wide pricing glitch or just my store (Kansas City/Liberty Missouri) messing up but for those who are looking for a deal on the older versions of these seasons it's worth a shot. - Good Luck!

It applies to seasons 1-6 of the old collector's set. The website had all 6 seasons listed on their website early Sunday morning...

Is there any difference between the old sets and the new ones?

Sorry if this is a duplicate post but regardless, this is even better news for those wanting the old versions considering when they had this deal the last time, the old sets weren't included. Now if they would just adjust the rest of the sets accordingly.

The old sets had additional material that didn't make it over to the new ones.

The new versions seem to have quite a few extras. Do you happen to know what was omitted?

Are the features missing from the new sets any good? I'd really prefer to get the slimmer packaging, but I don't know if I can resist more extras for the same price.

The extras not included any longer are primarily:

TV Promo Spots. Usually 30-40 of them. 2 for each episode. So pretty hardcore inclusion. Not, of course, the most necessary stuff ever though.

"Inside the X-Files: Behind the Truth" promo spots from FX (short commercial length behidn the scenes bits, and yes they get out enough to be worth it). Usually right above 10 of these.

"A Private Conversation with Chris Carter"--usually about 13 2-3 minute interview bits, each one about an episode from the season.

"The Truth about Season..." Usually totalling 20-40 minutes, a behind the scenes featurette on the season.

Worth it for me...

But netflix does have the old bonus discs for rent for those that need to see the extra material . . .
