XM new station - Chill (84) - way cool!

This channel debuted just recently and I'm loving it.

XM-Chill is a voyage into the Chill, a place that pulses with exotic and cerebral music known as smooth electronica. Ambient, electronic and downtempo rock that's beyond a channel. It's an experience in sound.

to a new music channel that features some of the best down tempo electronic music out there.

Hmm, I'll have to look into that. Sirius has a similar channel which is one of the main reasons I got it. Does XM have an Indie Rock station as well?

XMU is XM's indie rock station. It's really good.

I checked out the lists of artists that are played on XMU and XM-Chill on the XM website, and I like what I see. The main reason I got Sirius was because of the two stations it has that are similar to those, but I think I might enjoy the XM stations more. Not to mention the fact that it's slightly cheaper. It might be time for a switch.

Hmm, now you've got me really intrigued. For whatever reason Sirius basically sounds like shit in my car, and that's with it hooked directly into the audio inputs of my deck. I'll go ahead and check out the main XM thread for more info about it all.

XM Chill playes more true Chil music, and less soft rock (Coldplay) than Sirius Chill.

I'm listening to Groove Salad right now at work and I think it's a bit better than XM Chill, but XM Chill is still pretty good. Groove Salad sometimes has annoying songs where someone is talking about something weird and the beats play over it, and XM Chill never has that, so it balances out in the end.

XM Chill is a great station and a welcome addition to the channel lineup.

I'm just still upset after the debacle that was the Christmas music stations taking over XM 82, The System, that one of my favorite shows on that station is no longer on. Genetic Blueprint was a nice industrial, heavy music show.

I like Sirius Chill better than XM Chill.

That said, my personal choice would be to have a hybrid of the two. Not as stricly electronic chill as XM Chill, but not as much of the light pop crap that gets onto Sirius Chill.

On March 1, we added two new commercial-free music channels, Big Tracks - XM 49 devoted to Classic Rock from the late 70s onward, and XM Chill - XM 84 devoted to Chill music. Starting on Monday, April 17, XM will add 8 more commercial-free music channels. The new channels include:

U.S. Country - XM 17 - Country Superstars of the 80s and 90s
Flight 26 - XM 26 - Modern Hits 90s & Now
XM Hitlist - XM 30 - Today's Hit Music
enLighten - XM 34 - Southern Gospel
XM Liquid Metal - XM 42 - Heavy Metal XL
Big Tracks - XM 49 - Later Classic Rock
The Heat - XM 68 - Rhythmic Hits
Escape - XM 78 - Easy Listening
XM Chill - XM 84 - Chill Music
Viva - XM 91 - Latin Pop Hits

BTW, XM Chill seems pretty cool, and I am probably going to make it one of my presets.

I wish that there was a good blend of Ethel and Lucy -- either get rid of the 80s crap off Lucy or cut down on some of the repeated tracks on Ethel -- way too many spins on new NIN, My Chem Rom, etc.

The sweepers play Smashing Pumpkins Cherub Rock as a song on Fred, but it is always some early 80s stuff whenever I turn it on.

I need more preset buttons. I have 30, and they are all filled. Some of the new channels look like I will add them as well. I guess I will have to remove a few to make room for

Flight 26 - XM 26 - Modern Hits 90s & Now
XM Hitlist - XM 30 - Today's Hit Music
XM Liquid Metal - XM 42 - Heavy Metal XL
Big Tracks - XM 49 - Later Classic Rock

XM Chill is already a preset now.

Yeah I know, they have oddball situations like this. It seems they divide good songs amongst stations sometimes and then you end up playing musical channels on what to listen to.

Upon further review, this sounds pretty cool:

The Verge - XM 52 - New/Emerging Artists
The best new rock mixed with independent and unsigned artists from Canada and the US. You'll hear Broken Social Scene, Sum 41, Our Lady Peace, The Arcade Fire, Theory of a Deadman.

I think I'm going to re-do my "top 6" presets to:

47 - Ethel
54 - Lucy
52 - The Verge
84 - Chill
70 - Real Jazz (Or Maybe 75 - Hear Music)
202 - High Voltage

And yeah, Gallant, I play XM roulette all day at work. Right now it's an early Cake song on Lucy (crap) or Evanescence on Ethel (worse crap). I just want to be able to leave it on one station!

If you are liking 52 then I would think you should like 43 as well. I enjoy 43 more then Fred, Ethel, or Lucy although those, along with 84 are among my go to stations on XM.
BTW, sorry to hear that 51, Music Lab, is supposed to be going to online only.

The more I listen to XM Chill the more I like it. I'm sure glad they don't play soft crap like Coldplay which would totally suck you out of the experience.

Daming, I'm constantly flipping around during the radio.
