I remember the one for PS1...you put actual ice cubes in a tray and it would blow the cool air into the PS1. Good times.

isnt it the powerbrick that usually gets hot

Its a waste. It may provide a marginal increase in airflow, but its likely to mess up the designed airflow which in fact could lead to more problems down the line. There is no way they could have tested it long enough to know the long term implications.

All of the problems I have heard are related to this. Although if you had it in a cabinet with no airflow that might create a heat problem.

I agree its a waste but as for messing up the designed airflow thats not true, if the fans in that thing would spin around 2.5 times faster than the fans that are in the xbox then it would increase the air flow. and as for the designed airflow it sucks once again due to ATI's crappy voltage/fan control deal. i vote mini fridge, 360 goes in freezer part. though this thing could have a fin design with a heat pipe filled with coolent, so everytime the fans blow it moves over that and cools the temp, but i doubt it. i'm gonna get one just to take it apart.

Not necessarily true.
I have yet to have the chance to look inside a 360, but if there is more then one location for fans, which I bet there is, this device is going to be unable to create the airflow that the engineers designed into the system, thats a fact. The result of changing the designed airflow could prove fatal in the long term. People experience similar problems with PC's all the time when they add directional fans in bays etc. Creating pull, or push of air in new locations will change the internal dynamics resulting in the possability of actually cooling a portion of the system less. Increasing the throughput of air is not a guarantee the system will be cooler in all locations.
I like the fact that they provide some data points for the system, but since they provided it, it hard to say if there are points that are actually warmer then before.

I was actually thinking of picking one of these up too. I was thinking if it cools it by just a few degrees it would be better than running those few degrees hotter.

i agree cooler is better, mine is over heating now so microsoft is sending me a box to mail it back to them so they can fix it. damn heat :(

Anybody had this for long enough to make a recommendation? I'm not worried about the 360 overheating (yet), but it does suck that the little room I have for gaming gets ridiculously hot. Does anybody think this fan would keep the room a few degrees cooler?

Are you playing in a box or something?
Get a ceiling fan if your room is too hot.
I heard these are loud and as said before, could mess with the 360.

Yes, yes, I live in a box.
Or I'm actually currently renting a home waiting for our new home to be built. Since we moved in quite a while ago, the room designated for movies/gaming is about 12x12. I've recently added a 50" Sony SXRD to the room, and combined with the computer, receiver, and XBox 360 running at the same time, it gets a little hotter than I would like it. It's not unbearable, but any little cooling would help, and since it's not my place I don't want to add the ceiling fan in there. Aside from the TV, the 360 is by far the hottest component, so I thought the Nyko fan would be a possibility.

Try this, it is cheaper, and will do a better job at cooling the room!
I agree. I have a regular floor fan and I use it to when I play my 360. I just turn it on low or medium and it seems to cool the are and the unit just fine.
