Kusturica's BLACK CAT, WHITE CAT (UK release)
If you have not picked up the marvelous Aussie disc yet the UK is seeing a May 22 premiere of Kusturica's film.

Excellent for those who've not got the Australian DVD.
We only need Time of The Gypsises now. I know it's available but sans English subtitles. the fact it's out there on DVD can only be good news.
Here's hoping.

Is there a problem with releasing TIME OF THE GYPSIES on DVD? Even his two earlier films, Dolly Bell and When Father Was Away, were just released on NTSC Region 1 dvd. Where is TIME OF THE GYPSIES? I'm surprised the French don't even have this on DVD...

As to the above question about the Time of the Gypsies (which I missed) it has been available in Hungary as well as a few other Eastern European countries (Bulgaria) so there are no issues with the rights...rather there is no interest in releasing the film in the US.

Hey Pro-bass,
Do you know if the Hungary or Bulgarian DVDs of TIME OF THE GYPSIES have English subtitles and/or is anamorphic widescreen?
I think the Russian DVD of TIME OF THE GYPSIES is full screen (definitely no english subtitles though)

Pro-Bass,
I could either learn some more languages or I can wait half a lifetime before all of Kusturica's films are released Anamorphic with English subtitles. Actually, I'm only waiting now for Time of the Gypsies and Super 8 Stories, but i'm sure it's going take another decade for those two with English subtitles and anamorphic video...
