Anyone collect concert posters? (updated)
I am a newbie. I just ordered this one:
(from www.thesmallstakes.com)
and this one:
(from http://wilcoworld.net/store.html)
I would like to get these, but unfortunately have to go the collector's route:
Anyone wanna share their collection or any places to buy posters?

I see from the picture locations that you have already found gigposters.com
I have just started collecting the posters myself, here are a couple I have bought.
All of them have been bought direct from the artist or using eBay.

I don't collect them but I do have a pretty freakin cool one. It's from a 1981 concert by The Clash at a place called Bond's International Casino that was on Broadway in NYC. I literally yanked it off a balcony railing prior to the show. It's quite large at about 4' by 5'.

Nice posters Big Dave. How much did you spend on the Mogwai one? Did you get it from Burlesque's website? How much was it? Wish I knew when it went on sale.

I picked mine up one eBay with a Buy-It-Now of $100. Probably overpaid a little relative to what a couple have sold for ($80-85), but I wanted to make sure I got one. Now would probably be the best time to pick it up as quite a few are on eBay (relative to the print run). After the initial bunch is flipped, they will likely not come up as often.

I would suggest picking up this book.
It was what first got me interested in these posters and contains a lot of great images. It is pretty massive at 8 pounds and almost 500 pages.

I have about 80 of them. I have about 80-90% of all the Smashing Pumpkins gig posters I have ever seen and several others, but for other artists I only buy if I was at the show. That way they are more special to me. There are LOTS of cool ones out there that I would love to have, but you only have so much wall space, you know. I actually find myself compelled to go to Pearl Jam concerts and part of that is their awesome posters.
I just went through and photographed all of mine, but I did a crap job just so I knew what I had for Ebay purposes. If I had done a nice job, I would post them.

I have three of Masse's concert ones...
and some very cool old "telephone pole" ones from the early 80's of The Ramones, Oingo, The Who, Plimsouls, and some others (99% of the time, it was a show I saw, and we would go grab the souvenirs after the show in Hollywood) No pics of those...

Strong agreement as I was about to post that book. There's another one or two that will show up at Amazon while viewing this.
I don't have it but will one day grab it. I almost bought it last year when I was at a poster show w/many of the artists in the book. People were getting the 20 or so of them to do some autographs.
I do have a few but they are still rolled up.

I only have a couple, but I would like to get more. I have a Grateful Dead one that I bought a long time ago. And I have one from Pixies and one for Gang of Four, each one being a show that I saw. As someone else said, it makes the posters so much more special.
I have a friend who told me that they have a really high-quality printer at work and she could print anything I want from gigposters.com. I haven't taken her up on it though. I would rather buy the actual poster, although I can't afford to spend too much.

I have about 20 or so, mostly Pearl Jam with a Pumpkins one here and there. I have all those framed and about 4-5 waiting to be framed. Mostly ames stuff or Klausen, nothing to valuable a few '98 s/n ames ones worth prob around 400 or so each max. Mostly do it just because I like the image or I attend the show.
A good site if you're into collecting rock posters is expressobeans.com
Here is my photobucket, it's not updated by any means but gives you an idea of some of the ones I have thus far... http://photobucket.com/albums/f145/j-o-e76/?sc=1

I'm not a collector, but this thread reminded me that there's a poster I want from a show I went to a couple of years ago (I agree with the poster who said it makes it more special):
Unfortunately, it looks like I procrastinated too much and it's now sold out.
I've been browsing some of the sites listed and there are some cool posters out there! If I had unlimited money and wall space...
Found a poster for another show I went to:

also see the thread I just started about the band.
I met the guy that did the art for the one above and he has a similar moustache.
The above were found here:

Lots of great posters.
