help with dvd storage

My collection has grown to over 1000 DVDs now and I'm having a storage problem. I live in an apartment and my significant other is tired of tripping on them and seeing them in every area of the house. Currently I am using bookcases but they take up a lot of space.

I was looking on the web at the storage drawers and found the Can-Am sight. Is there a U.S. company that makes something of similar sizes and style. Anything I have found looks like it belongs in a library.

Any other good ideas would be helpful.

Thanks

You can take the DVDs out of the cases and store them in envelopes. You'd just have to have some place to store the cases, but they wouldn't have to be easily accessible.

Install shelving that goes on the wall and can potentially be taken down and caulked over. Picture below is from http://www.issdesigns.com, a site I found when looking for a photo of what I'm talking about. That site might give you some further aesthetic ideas.

If you somehow decide to get rid of your dvd cases, I'll buy them all from you. Just in case

Get rid of your Significant Other. That not only eliminates the constant complaining but creates all sorts of extra room where his/her crap used to be. Win-Win!

Aesthetically, maybe not to your liking, but I use these boxes...

...on a bookshelf. I happen to like the way it looks and it utilizes waaay more of the shelfspace. Eh, works for me.
