Costco: Busby Berkeley set $39.99

$39.99 for the new Busby Berkeley set at Costco -- by the time you add tax, hardly better than DDD or Amazon, but if you don't want to wait... They also have the new TEN COMMANDMENTS for $14.99.

I saw Sony season sets for $25.69 each:

I Dream of Jeannie Season 1 (B&W)
Bewitched Season 3 (First filmed in Color)
Flying Nun Season 1

Thanks, Escapist, for posting this bargain. DVD Empire has been playing around with my preorder for this set, so I cancelled that order and picked up a set at Costco.

By the by, my set contains a seventh bonus disc, "The Busby Berkeley Collection Soundtrack Sampler," which I didn't see mentioned in Savant's review of the box. It's a music CD containing eight songs, including "42nd Street" and "We're in the Money."

How was this packed? In the set, or attached to the set? I wonder if this is a costco exclusive? Could you post more about that in When please will Warner Bros release the Busby Berkeley Boxset (march 21, 2006)

The bonus CD looks as though it should appear with all sets, not just those purchased at Costco. The shrinkwrap has a sticker stating the presence of the CD, which is a joint release of WB and Rhino.

Tower Records (B&M) also is selling the BB set for $39.99.

If you want the CD, then I'd definitely lok for a box with the sticker signaling the presence of same. The sticker, BTW, is in the same design style as the set itself, which is why I assumed it might be issued with all sets.

There were only a couple of Busby Berkeley sets at my Costco. And in Oregon, no sales tax, so a better deal. Unfortunately, I had already ordered mine from Amazon, where it seems these days "usually ships in 24 hours" should more accurately be "usually ships whenever we get around to it, maybe in two or three days." Mine is only "almost ready to ship" two days after the release.
