It can be anything...a box set from a foreign land that looks real cool or that rare, OOP that you just love is in YOUR collection. Perhaps, it is just your favorite movie of all time. So brag a little (it's ok this time) and let's see them...

What DVD in your collection do you covet most???

Even though i have a couple expensive rarities and i do love them, the ones (the two) that i truly cherish are...

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" The Chosen Collection ...I've had such a love affair for this show that i was more than ecstatic when this collection was released. to have the entire series in such a great looking package was a true fan's delight.

"King Kong" (1933) 2-Disc Collector's Tin...i just love looking at this high quality tin that holds a classic film which i will be enjoying for the first time this night.

I ♥ my 10 seasons of Friends even more now that I finally have that cool box to display them in. I also ♥ my complete collections of some of my other favorite TV shows of all time, like the original Twilight Zone, and many more.

High Plains Drifter (the orignal release with the cool cover art) and the WB box sets I have and my western collection and the noir's and my Walmart bargain bin sized collection of cheap titles that I might get around to watching before I die, not likely.

About 3 days ago it was My So-Called Life (but I'm currently selling it on ebay), so now it is Dances with Wolves Theatrical Cut (with full bitrate DTS) and/or Robocop Criterion

Yes, this "pics" thing is working out quite well.

I think I'll start a "most treasured gem in your collection and the song you've written about it" thread soon.

Maybe that one will have pictures. ;)

I love every autographed DVD (http://www.geocities.com/natrlbornthrllr/Autographs.htm) that I have, since they all have sentimental value and mark a time that I met a celebrity. Of the bunch, though, this one is my favorite:

http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/1592/northcountry3ve.jpg

My entry for my favorite DVD that's not signed would have to be:

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0007WFYBG.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

It was one of my very favorite movies as a youngster when it first came out, and when I got into the DVD hobby it quickly became my most wanted title. I waited for a couple of years before it ever got a release. It was well worth the wait, though. I'll never forget how thrilled I was when I first read the announcement here that Criterion was going to add it to their collection. Not only is it getting a DVD release, but it's getting a proper release from, in my opinion, the best possible company. It's no longer my favorite movie. It's not the best release in the world, or even anywhere near the best in Criterion's collection, but all things considered it's easily my pick.

I love the way my R2 Buffy sets look. I have Seasons 4-7 (for 1-3, I have the U.S. versions). I got 4-7 from R2 for the widescreen (please don't start that fight again ;) ).

http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B00008W642.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

The picture doesn't do it justice. The inner part opens like a book with separate sleeves for each disc. They are gorgeous.

I've been fortunate to land a few foreign limited edition sets that get me jacked up whenever I see them displayed - on or off TV. A couple of them are no longer available except on the aftermarket ...

Some Pixar goodness from Japan (Two of my favorite US animated films ever):

The Incredibles R2 LE

http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/203/theincrediblesexpanded9xd.th.jpg (http://img297.imageshack.us/my.php?image=theincrediblesexpanded9xd.jpg)

Monsters Inc. R2 LE

http://img126.imageshack.us/img126/7538/monstersinc1dp.th.jpg (http://img126.imageshack.us/my.php?image=monstersinc1dp.jpg)

Call me an Oshii fanboy as these are some of my favorite films, animated or otherwise excellently presented through the DVD medium:

Innocence R2 First Pressing LE Tin
Ghost in the Shell R2 LE
Avalon R3 SE [Full Bit DTS]

http://img70.imageshack.us/img70/740/oshiia2ry.th.jpg (http://img70.imageshack.us/my.php?image=oshiia2ry.jpg)

Finally, we've all been given a true anamorphic release of Lost Highway and although the picture still suffers, it has a very good surround sound mix for a film of its age. It also has one of the best OSTs of any film IMHO:

Lost Highway R2 French MK2 release

http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/3458/losthighway4rs.th.jpg (http://img55.imageshack.us/my.php?image=losthighway4rs.jpg)

Of course as with everything DVD, I could not just pick one or two

No pics here, either....but I still am most fond of my autographed and rare I Drink Your Blood dvd.

In second place would be my german release of Mario Bava's Blood and Black Lace.....Blutige Seide. Cased in black velvet and a reference quality transfer. Also includes some very rare trailers, essential for any Bava fan.

While not exactly an OOP "treasure", this is my most treasured DVD: I met Lana Clarkson during Comic-Con. She signed my Barbarian Queen DVD. She was just the sweetest person to meet. I keep the pic of her signing as my "insert".

A few months later she was murdered by Phil Spector (well, the trial is still going)

I don't know if there's any title that I treasure with Gollum-like levels of avarice, but I'll try to play along:

Black Mask (uncut Taiwanese version)
the previously mentioned Buffy Chosen Collection box set
Gatchaman Collection box sets from ADV Films
Hero (Korean R3 Ultimate Edition)
Invader Zim series box set from Media Blasters
Kill Bill, Volume 1 (Japanese R2 standard edition)
Puni Puni Poemy autographed by director Shinichi Watanabe
RoboCop (uncut Criterion Collection edition)
Silence of the Lambs (Criterion Collection edition)
Superdimensional Fortress Marcross box sets from Animeigo

Also, to the OP: you can't really covet a title that's already in your collection. Your question should read, "What DVD in your collection do others covet most?"

Sonny from I, Robot, there's no competition. I've got three now, I need one more and I'll be happy. They'll be on display (all in a row) with blue LED backlighting in my dedicated HT (hopefully this summer).

http://img53.imageshack.us/img53/7221/shaldvd21fe.th.jpg (http://img53.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shaldvd21fe.jpg)

I love the Hand of Doom, too. It's actually a painted foam costume piece you can put your hand in, but it looks alot nicer than a $30 Halloween prop.

http://img53.imageshack.us/img53/3739/shaldvd77tq.th.jpg (http://img53.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shaldvd77tq.jpg)

I'm finally getting Final Battle Kroenen, too! $40 @ sideshowtoy, the looong waitlist finally converted to an order, so the Hellboy 12" trio is now complete. I'm not a huge action figure/collection guy, simply because that money can buy a small stack of DVDs, but I do like these.

The two treasures out of all my OOP discs is MST3K the movie and This is Spinal Tap Criterion. MST3K will hopefully get a better release someday, but most of the extra stuff on Spinal Tap will probably not see the light of day again so I really treasure that one most of all.
