Just bought three tickets for me and two friends. $150 a piece is steep but I think it'll be worth it. I wish I would've gotten them when they were only $45 a week ago!!! The lineup is pretty awesome, although I was hoping for a few other bands to return from last year (The Arcade Fire, Kaiser Chiefs, Tegan and Sara, The Walkmen, etc.). Oh well.

From what I remember of last year, the deal pretty much was that the fest in Chicago to stay until it gets on somewhat firmer ground, then it would start expanding a little bit.
Although last year it ended up being the hottest weekend of the summer.

Slight update in the paper today.
Lollapalooza fans can start making their plans for fest
June 23, 2006
BY JIM DEROGATIS Pop Music Critic
With more than 100 bands on five main stages spanning the entirety of Grant Park for three days, Aug. 4-6, Lollapalooza will provide more music than even the most ardent fan can possibly take in.
But promoters have just made it easier for festivalgoers to plan their weekend by releasing the schedule for all of the performers.
Friday's bill will climax with the Violent Femmes and Sleater-Kinney on opposite stages at 7:30 p.m. and Death Cab for Cutie and Ween playing against each other at 8:30 p.m.
Saturday's headliners are the Flaming Lips and Common at 6:30 p.m., the New Pornographers and Thievery Corporation at 7:30 and Manu Chao and Kanye West at 8:30. (Since they're sharing the same stage for subsequent sets, it's almost a sure bet that hometown heroes and longtime friends and collaborators West and Common will take part in one another's performances.)
The festival will draw to a close on Sunday with the choice of catching Wilco or the Queens of the Stone Age at 6:30 p.m. and Broken Social Scene or Blues Traveler at 7:30, before the Red Hot Chili Peppers end the weekend playing unopposed at 8:15 p.m.
Tickets are on sale ($140 plus a $16 service charge for a three-day pass, increasing to $150 plus service charges closer to the concert date) and the complete schedule is online at www.lollapalooza.com.

seriously though they are a local chicago band playing the main stage (at&t) at 4:30 on day 1. I know they are playing against Ryan Adams and John Mclaughlin but it is worth it.
Also I like Nickle Creek, but they are playing at the same time as Benevento/Russo who are sick

I had an amazing time. Matisyahu, Gnarls, Kanye, Common, RHCP, Cursive, She Wants Revenge, Queens of Stone Age all were great. Well run show, no violence, no lack of bathrooms, and acceptable prices for beer. Great times!
