Possible new Rocky boxset

I heard a while back, they might release yet another Rocky boxset next year. I hope they get it right this time. Thankfully, I didn't buy the last one.

My fantasy boxset:

Al the movies to have their original logos.

Rocky: All the extras from the original boxset, plus a new commentary by Sly Stallone, plus deleted scenes with optional commentary.

Rocky II: Commentary by Sly, plus deleted scenes, with optional commentary. Trailers and TV Spots

Rocky III: Commentary by Sly, plus deleted scenes, with optional commentary. Trailers and TV Spots

Rocky IV: Commentary by Sly, plus deleted scenes, with optional commentary. Trailers and TV Spots

Rocky V: Commentary by John Avildsen and Sly, plus deleted scenes, with optional commentary. Trailers and TV Spots

Extra Disc:

That AMC special that was supossed to be on the last one.

All the sports classic interviews for each movie, that aired on ESPN classic.

Documentaries for all the movies, with interviews from everyone they could possibly get.

An interview with Sly, giving personal opinions, about each and every Rocky movie.

Why wouldn't they wait til Rocky 6 was made?

I refuse to buy anything released after that.

This isn't even news, just a fanboy fantasy DVD set. This thread should be closed.

I'm sure they'll be a fancy BR set in our future which'll include Rocky 6.

I have a question about the various Rocky boxsets and I cant seem to find the answer Im looking for. I would like to upgrade to the Rocky Anthology from the old boxset(red one) but I cant seem to find a list of differences in the two. Does the anthology have the following?

Anamorphic Rocky II and IV?
The special features from Rocky I(Commentaries, Featurettes, trailers etc)?

I thought I read on the Rocky Balboa thread that a future Rocky Boxset isn't possible because the films are owned by different studios. Kind of like how we probably won't have another complete James Bond box set because Casino Royale is owned by someone else.

call me weird but i've never seen any of the rocky movies and iam definitly sure there will be a new boxset at the end of this year followed by yet another boxset when they release Rocky Balboa SE.

They can't include Rocky Balboa in a set, but what about the rumored double disc special editions of the other sequels?

Never heard those rumors. Even if they produced an hour long doc for each one I think it'd fit on one disc anyways.

What I would like is an Empire of Dreams definitive type of documentary, and some Stallone commentaries for the sequels. (on top of the usual improved A/V quality)

So no chance of a Rocky 1-6 set? Is that due to Sony's financing and distribution of 6, and Fox's new distribution rights to 1-5?

They could work things out to get Rocky Balboa in a box set with the other movies. After all, just look at the Oliver Stone Collection.

Agreed. Or appropriately retitled. I hate a false tease.

I read on AICN when Stallone was doing the Q & A that he would love to do 2 disc special editions of II - V, but that's just what he wants to do.

There won't be a Rocky set with Balboa, but it would be nice to see a 10 disc set with 2 disc special editions of all 5 movies.

MGM still co-produced the new movie. It's far from entirely impossible that Sony would license their one movie to MGM to make the set, or, more likely, MGM, being the smaller company, owned by Sony (despite home video going through Fox), would license their films to Sony, and then we'd have a set.

The Rocky Anthology box set has all 5 films in anamorphic WS. The only extras are theatrical trailers and the bonus 6th disc which is an A&E Biography episode about Stallone. The picture quality is improved and Dolby 5.1 mixes were also added for each film (plus an additional DTS 5.1 mix on Rocky I). None of the extras from the Rocky I SE are included. Also, the version of Rocky I included in the Anthology set is framed tighter than on the SE or the bare-bones version from the old box set.

You might want to hold out for the eventual 6-movie box set which, despite what the naysayers are saying, will definitely come to fruition. In addition, according to all official sources, 2-Disc CE's are imminent for all the Rocky sequels as well. So the next box set will likely have all 6 movies in 2-Disc CE form. But that probably won't happen for awhile yet. So in the meantime the Anthology set + the Rocky I CE + Rocky Balboa 1-Disc is the best available option.

The A&E disc was limited, only the first run of box sets included this disc.

it doesn't need a box set. just buy the SE of the first rocky film and you have all that's worth seeing in the series.

There are quite a few people who like the other Rocky films. Plus, Rocky IV is the highest grossing sports film of all time... so...

I'm watching Rocky III right now, I still think it's worth seeing.

I'd like them all repackaged in a boxing glove casing. Like Planet of the Apes and it's Apehead collection.

Or maybe have the DVDs in a ring surrounded by a tiny ropes. Would also love to see figures of Rocky, Creed, Drago and Clubber in a set.

How about a decent set with special features on all of the movies? Then that would be enough.

I'm surprised that this thread hasn't been locked.

Perhaps I'll start a "Possible New Star Wars Boxset" thread.
