For those in the Annapolis, MD area, Tower Records is going out of business (in this location) and all DVDs and CDs are 50% off now. I went there yesterday and got Flintsones Seasons 2,3, and 4 for about $22.50 each.

Thanks for the info, will stop there today or tomorrow.

BB and CC must be loving this, with the closing of Tower and Suncoast, they will get all the DVD sales in that area. Now, just if CC would get a larger selection.

Stuff is moving fast. I went in there this morning and there was a guy with two big baskets filled with DVDs that he said the was going to sell on eBay. I hate people like that.

Stuff is moving fast, but there's still a lot. Went there at 9pm before they closed (at 10pm) and found quite a bit there. In fact, I had to cut out stuff 'cause I kept to a certain budget.

Bought:

Le Samourai ($15)
Stray Dog ($20)
Ugetsu ($20)
Bugsy Malone (import - $12.50)
Kirikou and the Sorceress ($15)
Audition ($10)
Eraserhead ($15)
Kodocha volume 4 ($15)

All in all, some damn good deals. Wish I coulda spent more 'cause there were some very good deals on Criterion titles, especially.

I got Scary Movie 3.5 for $10 as well as A LOT of CDs mostly under $10. Since they've had this sale, I've spent about $300 there, yikes.

I got both of the Robocop toys since they were so big, had about 150 bucks in dvds and finally came back to my senses, got Beast Wars season 3 and that was it. Thanks a ton though for the heads up.

Wow, what were some of the dvds you picked up? Annapolis is a trek for me, and I was wondering if it was worth the gas money.

I don't have the list with me right now, I am at work. But I picked up 12 Criterions that were regularly price for $30 and were sold for $15. If you know anything about Criterions, you will know that you just don't ever see them for $15.

I also got alot of older stuff from the 40s and 50s when they really knew how to act and had good stories. Some of it I haven't seen for along time and just wanted to refresh myself with. Most of the stuff I got cost $7.50 or less. I will post a list later.

By the way. This sale is over on Sunday and I was told the prices won't go lower than what they are right now. Since this is the only location that is going out of business in this area, whatever they don't sell they will just pack up and ship to another location.

There a few decent deals there. I hoped to find Freaks and Geeks and undeclared; but no luck.

If you want to see if other stores are closing (I don't know, only looked at Dallas), you can goto their website (www.towerrecords.com) and look at store locations. Under Annapolis, they have a "Goodbye" page for them, and it also mentions this sale. Nice!

I went there yesterday afternoon - it was mobbed, and pretty well picked clean of what I went there for - classic films on DVD. I did pick up the recently released Daddy Long Legs. It had a sticker on the front stating that it was on sale for $14.99, but I ended up being charged $10, so the 50% comes off of the original price, for what it's worth. Good finds for anyone still looking: they had several left of the Unfaithfully Yours Criterion, two Garbo boxed sets, and two That's Entertainment sets.

The cashier told me that a guy had been in there every day since the sale started and had thus far bought $12,000 worth of stuff - and was coming back for more. Sounds like the eBay guy, to me. There were several other items there that I was interested in that I know were in stock 2 weeks ago that were gone. And I'd put them in the relatively low-demand category. I'd bet he swiped them up.
