CBS renews 14 shows for next season

CBS announced on Monday that it has renewed 14 prime-time — shows to the tune of 13 hours of programming — including freshman series How I Met Your Mother, Criminal Minds and Ghost Whisperer. Also getting the nod for the 2006-2007 season are all three flavors of CSI, Without a Trace, Numbers, Cold Case, 60 Minutes, Two and a Half Men, NCIS and the reality contests Survivor and The Amazing Race.
Good to see How I Met Your Mother and Criminal Minds get a 2nd season

I wonder how much longer they can afford to keep CSI on - those actors must be demanding HUGE salaries by now (deservedly, IMHO). Have there been any rumors at all to that effect?

WooHoo! NCIS is coming back. Probably the only show I watch on CBS & it is one of my favorites.

Kristin at E! Online had a post about this a while back and someone wrote in a LM filming sighting from LAST WEEK (or two ago) so it sounds promising...here's hoping anyhow. Glad HIMYM is getting a second season to suit up...

Whew, that was a close one. I was worried 60 Minutes wouldn't make the cut.

According to Kevin James bio on IMDB, he'll earn "$500,000 an episode for the 2006-2007 final season." Typo?

This was what happened two years ago when George Eads (Nick Stokes) and
Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle) tried to stage a no-show for more money. This was two years ago so it may have changed but they have one year left on their contracts unless it was redone. To me, these procedural shows are less about the actors and more about the story so they are fairly replaceable (see Law and Order). If I was on these shows, I would thank my stars and cash the checks.

YEAH!!! for The Amazing Race.

The original story has been updated:

CBS has ordered the 10th edition of THE AMAZING RACE for Fall 2006 but has not announced an 11th edition yet.
So, I guess that makes it only a half-season renewal so far?

Those 2 CSI people thought they were more important than the producers thought they were and they got dropped when they asked for more money. Other than H and Gil, I would think they consider any of the cast expendable.

Glad to see How I met your Mother get another season...By no means a great show, but I enjoy watching it as it gives some light hearted fare for the week.
