Decent episode, but again the Ted crap was not funny and basically cheesy. Barney with the setup .

Yep, decent episode last night. Again, Barney with the best lines.

Even Barney didn't have any really great lines, but Robin's cattiness with Victoria was pretty funny.

Snore-fest. They're quickly running out of ways to lose the girlfriend of the month and still not have Robin and Ted get together.

Also the premise gets weaker with each episode. Why would Ted's kids sit there and listen to all this without having to be restrained?

They should just have Ted get together with who ever his wife will be and move on with the premise of the show being the adventures of this group of friends. Kill the Ted hooking up premise, 'cause Ted just isn't interesting.

I think I heard this morning that CBS has renewed this program for next season. Anyone know for sure?

[edit] Never mind -- it has indeed been renewed. See this thread:

good overall episode. obviously not as good as the birth of barney, but still decent. and if i had a friend like ted, i'd rip on him all the time (just like barney). that dude is cheeeeesy.

Some good stuff with Barney and Robin. Ted continues to be a weight that drags the show down.

I think I may be the only one here that finds Ted endearing. Sure, he may be schmaltzy, but he's a good straight man for the hilarious supporting cast. I'm glad to see Victoria go. Even though I liked her, she just didn't mesh. Good to see that this got renewed for another season. As much as I liked it, I half expected it to be cancelled after the first week considering how quickly shows come and go nowadays.

Well, I liked Victoria, and I'm sorry to see her go. Especially during the wedding dress scene, I thought she had good chemistry and camraderie with the other girls.

Ted may not be terribly interesting, but I found him more tolerable while he was with Victoria, than when he was single before and moaning about it all the time.

I've had one of those "I'm-going-away-for-two-years (literally)" goodbyes at the airport. There are a lot more tears involved.

Interesting that they are setting up some ongoing threads. Like tonight's "Long distance is a really terrible idea. But more on that later." And last week's "but some people have more secrets they didn't share that night" as it focused on Robin, I think?

I liked Victoria too, she was so cute. In a sense, like in real life, a "Victoria" makes a "Ted" more interesting and or tolerable--if that makes sense. And since shows hopefully reflect real life, I just don't see Robin liking Ted, I just don't see it...

I thought the Victoria thing was too rushed. Instead of telling us that Victoria is so great for Ted, they should have spent at least an episode or two SHOWING us. Seems like lazy, rushed writing.

Well and my problem with this episode was her background story they'd already explained. Didn't she OWN the bakery that made the wedding cake for the wedding where she and Ted met? Suddenly she gets a call from a German cooking academy, and she just uproots her life in under a week? Where's all her stuff? Who's running her business? Is she just paying rent and not living in her apartment for 2 years? It just made no sense to me.

i got the impression she worked for the bakery, not that she owned it.

It was also weird that she said she had to leave on a date in September. Was this Sept 2005? Or have they leaped ahead to Sept 2006?

I thought it was her bakery, too. And since when is Germany known for great cooking?

yeah, i didn't get the September stuff. I first thought she said september... but then when ted said it, she corrected him, saying she was actually leaving on Monday. So he said, "Monday, September the...", and she corrected him again.

so he thought it was in september, which was a long way off.

Well I think the reason that *I* thought that was because she attended the wedding. How often do you work at a bakery, deliver the cake and they ask you to stay for the reception? Wierd

she did say that she made the cake. i guess most times, the person that makes the cake is the main baker or owner. but i guess not in this case.

Especially considering the bride's obsession with the guest list. I, too, thought she owned the bakery, but I guess they never said so.

I started off not liking the show, but it's definitely grown on me. We'll see if it was because of Victoria or not. Besides making Ted a little more bearable, one thing that the addition of Victoria did was let the other members of the cast interact with each other a lot more without Ted, and for some reason I found more enjoyment in that.
