I ordered online and called CC (800-The-City) and told them that BB had the 2 dvds on their site for $19.99 each and I would like a pricematch. It was that easy.

If you were so inclined, you could join the Columbia House TV Club and get Season 1 of Monk as an enrollment. Check out this thread for all of the details-
I just tried placing an order over the phone. While the PM was approved, they were going to tack on Best Buy's shipping charge to the PM - was this the case for others? Seems to defeat the point of PM'ing as it effectively negates the 10% difference. Going to check out B&M later.

Season 3 is in stock at Bestbuy.com again, but now there is no store pick-up option. It's still a really good deal at 22.68 (19.99 + 1.69 S+H + 1.00 Sales Tax) for me here in Massachusetts. I paid in the mid-30's for S2 during DDD's 20% off sale and that was the best deal available at the time.

I swore I wouldn't buy Season 3 of Monk, but at that price, I couldn't resist.
My local Best Buy had plenty of copies of Seasons 2 and 3, but no sign saying that they were on sale. I think they were priced at $43.99. I asked a BB employee if Season 3 was on sale, he looked it up and told me it was.
GREAT deal! Thanks, OP!

anybody have problems with the booklet? I grabbed the one at FYE and price matched it, no booklet, exchanged it at wherehouse music, no booklet, went to best buy, opened all 8 of theirs, no booklet in any. none in stock at walmarts, circuit city, or target. Am I just gonna have to write/email/call whoever it is that releases it and try and get one through mail?
Actually, looking a the back of the inside (once out of the slipcover), there is the list of episodes, which disc they are on, and the extras. Is there a booklet? According to folks that review it at amazon, they seemed to think it should have one. Maybe the made the packages and decided afterwards to do without the booklet so there's just a booklet flap for no reason. Well now I feel bad about opening the ones up at Best Buy. The lady there went ahead and opened 3 of them up herself thinking it would be stupid to have a flap for a book and not include one.

i just went by what other reviewers had said. also, why make the folder there if nothing would go in it? i've received bad shipments at my store when we got kingdom of heaven in, some two dozen copies of it had two disc 1's or two disc 2's.

I stopped over at Best Buy today, and none of the employees knew what was going on. They finally referred me to a lady from an outside company that sets up DVD displays. She said she didn't know anything about a sale, but the titles I mentioned (Monk 2 & 3, MacGyver 4, Law & Order SVU 2) were all on a list of titles she was told to pull and put on display near the registers. I looked at the items in the cart she was filling, and saw Hogan's Heros 2, Laguna Beach, Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, Beavis & Butthead vol 1, Drawn Together 1 and Chappelle's Show 2. Obviously they're not all 19.99, as the Newlyweds are $16.99 usually. I grabbed Hogan's Heros 2, but it rang up at standard price.
Our best guess was that these will appear in a future ad.

Interesting. At my local BB, there were shelf tags showing the $19.99 price for the DVDs mentioned in this thread. It's strange how some stores have no idea about the sale, while at others, it's heavily advertised. I was thinking it was a weekly sale only (i.e. it will end after Sat), but maybe that's not the case?
I ended up ordered both Monk S2 & S3 when it came back in-stock online, and then managed to PM a copy of S3 at my local CC as well (they wouldn't PM it when it was OOS on BB's website). So now I have an extra copy of S3 coming to me which I'll try & return.

I went to my local Best Buy and got Monk season 2 & 3 for $19.99ea. No signs or anything, so I asked someone and they proceeded to check their computer and sure enough it was on sale.
Does anyone know how long this sale lasts, and what all titles are included?
MovieExchange
03-05-06, 09:42 AM
Well, it's not a one week sale, as the sale prices are still up at BestBuy.com.
As I said previously, the only person at my local BB that knew anything about this was the outside person that sets the new displays. She didn't know about a sale, but she did say that the display she was making of the sale titles (and others) is changed at the beginning of every month... so my best guess is that this is a sale through the month of March.

I went to my local Best Buy(Wilmington, NC) this past Saturday and they had about 4-5 copies of S2 & S3. Asked a salesperson (believe it or not, he was actually very friendly and helpful!!) to scan them for me and they both came up 19.99. He was shocked at what a deal this is!!
Now, I have all 3 seasons of Monk.

I ordered season 2 & 3 through Circuit City on the 28th and selected free shipping (titles were not available at my local stores).
I followed up with a phone call to price match with Best Buy later that day. The first CS rep indicated that they do not price match DVD’s over the phone. She indicated that I would have to take the merchandise to a local CC store after I received it, along with a copy of the Best Buy web site ad as proof, and request a price match.
I called again about a half hour later, spoke to someone with an Indian accent (outsourced, customer service?). He said they would price match it over the phone after verifying the price on the BB web site. Ten minutes later, he tells me that he can’t find any of the Monk season sets on the BB web site. He asks for the URL page. I use a dial up at the house therefore when I ‘m on the phone I can’t be online. I request that he looks again using the search engine on the BB web site, which is how I found it in about 30 seconds before making the call to CC. No luck, this gentlemen apparently doesn’t know what’s he’s doing or CC is just giving their customers the run around. I request that the order be canceled (fat chance of that ever happening). Of course, he indicates that the order is in progress and can’t be canceled.
Order arrives on 3-6 and I run it down to the local CC with a copy of the BB ads. I try to explain the issue to the customer service rep, but soon learn that this is her first week on the job. She’s all alone, and after briefly explaining the issue, I can see her eyes start to glaze over. Twenty minutes later, she refunds my credit card the overage, but she forgets to include the season 3 box set. Ten minutes later were finally finished.
Amount saved on each set – about $4. Was it worth it? Only, if gas is free and your time is worthless. Needless to say, I won’t be ordering anything through the CC web site again.

Damn, thats alot of trouble for two crappy seasons. But at least you didnt do anything crazy like go through 20 sets to see a little book with extra pictures of Monk
Granted I did buy the sets but thats beause Im a completist. I had already decided to pass up on any upcoming seasons of Monk becuase their $35 - $45 price is too insane for a show going downhill. S1 was the best one hands down and was good enough for me. But for $20, Ive bought less for more $ and I was already at BB anyway. Besides, I had to use my gift card on something :)

Wow, been waiting for something like this on Monk. I got season 1 for free (promo from USA Networks), and picked up 2 last summer. Waiting for a bargain on S3 and here it is. Might pick up SVU as well, PM it to CC.
Edit: Got Monk at Circuit City. After a huge hassle: Said the link isn't good enough. So I leave. They probably thought that was the end of it. But I drive to BB, get a Price Confirmation receipt saying that it is indeed $19.99, and then come back. Apparently the receipt is still not enough, but she gives it to me anyway.
