Will I find Law & Orders for better prices?

I'm looking to buy Law & order seasons 4 and 14 (and the rest when the come out, and pretty much all of SVU and CI as well. Just purchased SVU season 1 used at Wherehouse where I used 20% employee discount for Transworld employees, used for $34.99 pre-discount. But waiting for any to come in to FYE's or Wherehouse's is ridiculus b/c it's tough to find any L&O's used. I can purchase the various seasons of them on wherehouse.com, and 'return' them to my store, and then re-buy them with employee discount, but after shipping costs it's a wash because I'd have to repurchase them at the store's computer price, usually $1-3 more per title. I never see them on sale for a reasonable price anywhere.

Don't know if they'll do it again, but Amazon had most (if not all) of the released(at the time) L&O titles for $19.97 just this past November.

Depending if you want other DVDs as well, you could get them thru CH for an avg. of $15-20 (or so).

Man, sounds like I missed it, didn't even know about this forum till December to keep me updated on such deals and wasn't checking amazon very frequently. Guess I'll just wait till they have another sale, maybe when Trial by Jury comes out or a spring/summer sale.

Check your local GameStops. If you can find them (big if, I know), the L&O seasons are priced at $19.99-$24.99 each. On top of that, DVDs are B2G1, and if you have the GameInformer card you get an additional 10% off your entire used purchase.

jaschiero,

As a fellow employee of Trans World I thought I would let you know about a little trick that has worked for me in the past. You can have someone at the home office (I don't remember who, it might depend on your store's location) in Albany do a search for any used items that are in stock at various stores throughout the country. You just need to provide them with the "used" sku's.

They will email you back with the results and then you can contact those stores and ask them to transfer the used boxed set(s) to your store. (Sometimes certain stores have multiple copies of the same sets, so it's usually not a problem for them to transfer.) I have obtained several TV shows over the years at a fraction of the retail price by using this method.

I suppose it really depends on who your store manager is and if they would allow you to do this, but I have had pretty good luck with this method. I usually will ask the employee at the other store what the condition of the set is. If the box is all beat up and the discs look like they might be scratched, I will just thank them for their time and go to the next store on the list.

9 times out of 10 the set is virtually brand new (probably stolen from somewhere and then traded in for $$) Probably not the most ethical method, but it has saved me a ton of money. Good luck!
