Hollywood Video DVD Trade-In Report

I went in today with 28 dvds that I didn't want anymore and couldn't get enough to warrant listing them individually on half.com(my preferred selling site). Here a list and the amount I got for each. Everything was like new, mint. Feel free to contribute.

The Program 2
The 39 Steps(laserlight) 2
Sideways 5
Spaceballs 2
Perfect Murder, Perfect Town 2
Celtic Pride 3
Stargate 4
Final Fantasy 3
I Heart Huckabees 2
Daredevil 5
Blair Witch 2
Indian Summer 2
CT, Hidden Dragon 2
Raising the Mammoth 2
Wild Things 3
Terminator 2
Ninth Gate 3
Perfect Storm 4
The Cell 4
Directed by Alan Smithee 2
Matrix Revisited 2
The Ring 5
Can't Hardly Wait 3
Universal Soldier 2
Cellular 4
Employee of the Month 2
White Oleander 1
Pitch Black 3

With my $78 in credit I picked up a new Out of Sight CE for 13.99(didn't know it's oop) and a gift card for $64.17. I'm gonna save it it use at gamecrazy or trade it.

Thanks for the info! Took about 8 crap dvds that I coulden't even give away in today (full screen, old editions, etc...) and got 25 bucks credit. Picked up What The *%@$ Do We Know, Stander and Broken Flowers from the pvd racks. I got between 2 and 5 per dvd.

Hollywood Video (Blockbuster, too!) are the last places I take in DVDs for trade. Some have suggested that they give $2-5 for "crap" DVDs, but they actually give the same credit for good ones as well.

I find it outrageous that for the same DVD's we pay $15-20 for, they will give you typically $3--that's about 1/4 or less of its value. They can turn around and sell them for $10 and make triple profit.

You can do better by selling to Amazon or Digital Eyes if you want a reasonable amount of credit.

I checked digital eyes, some were more(Sideways), some less(daredevil) and some not even found in their database(The 39 Steps, The Cell)

from the trade in link you posted....

Can I use my Movie Trading credit at Game Crazy?

Hollywood Video and Game Crazy are separately operated, so credit on your Hollywood Video account may only be used at Hollywood Video.

If you go to a Hollywood that has a Game Crazy in it, then both cards will work at both places. If the Hollywood doesn't have a Game Crazy then they only take Hollywood cards. I think there are only a handful of Game Crazy's that are standalones, so most Game Crazy's should take Hollywood cards. I found this out the hard way when I had a ton of Game Crazy credit, but couldn't use the gift card at a HV closer to my house.

I asked about this, specifically ordering a xbox game. I then asked if I can get a gift card with my store credit on it. They said sure.
