So, back in December I had placed an order to fulfill an account. Two weeks later I received two boxes. I figured they split my order since I ordered a box set. I opened one box, which contained all of the dvd's I ordered. So, I opened the second mystery box which contained what I can only assume was somebody's enrollment package, complete with little green envelope that contained their name and account info.
Well, being the honest guy I am, I called columbia house to inform them of this error. The gentleman on the other end informed me that he was A) Sorry for the inconvenience B) Sending me a postage paid sticker so I could send them the dvd's back) and C) Thankful for my honesty. So for my honesty I was awarded with a free dvd (19.95 or below) of my choice. Which is cool because I was just doing what I hope anybody else would do (or maybe I'm a sucker).
So, I figured I would wait until Rent became available and purchase that with my free dvd. Well this morning I call columbia house and tried to place my order but was informed that I cannot take Rent as my free dvd. It seems that this free dvd coupon works only on dvds that are already available for enrollment. Which left me scratching my head thinking, "When will I ever use this".
I'm much more judicious than most when it comes to my columbia house accounts. I will join maybe once a year because, honestly, there aren't that many dvd's that I want. So I wait until six dvd's that I am interested in become available as enrollments and then will join to get those for cheap. And I have trouble using this "coupon" on a title that I can use as an enrollment for a future account. I've never had this much trouble spending free money.

There's got to be something you'd want. I had the same thing happen to me a few months ago (got someone else's enrollment package the same day as mine). I called and they sent me a prepaid return label and I returned the package. I didn't get a thanks or a free dvd coupon.
So, if you'd like, you can mail the coupon to me and I'll use it :D

Wow! Apparently this sort of thing happens. I received my enrollment package last week and someone else's (in a box address to me) on the same day. Considering the many frustrating encounters I've had with CH over the years I decided to reward myself and keep the movies. Hell if I'm sending them back. After 50+ accounts with CH (sigh) it's about time they made a mistake in my favor!

i'm with themeloman on this. I've had this happen with two title. Why should you have to deal with the hassle of columbiahouse customer service for their mistake. The only one loosing in this situation is Columbiahouse. After a month the actual customer will get their package, which is probably about how long it would take for columbiahouse to end up getting it to that person anyway.

free > cheap
Next time you sign up, I'm sure there will be more titles available for enrollment you could choose from.

What!? Like the guy hasn't done enough good for one year by pointing out the mistake, now he has to use his reward to do more nice? You people and your morals, it just amazes me.

Wow, I thought that I spread the sarcasm on that one pretty thick, but you must have a cold because you couldn't taste it. I know how it is. I have a cold right now and eating sometimes isn't as enjoyable as it should be, due to the fact I can't taste it. Well, hope you get well soon.
Good Night! -wink-

Why don't you just wait till Rent becomes an enrollment title?

Why don't you just wait until Rent becomes available as an enrollment choice? If I'm not mistaken, new releases generally aren't available as enrollment choices. I think that's what they meant when they said "works only on dvds that are available for enrollment".

How'd you guess that I had a cold? Scary.
Usually a smilie -poke- or something tends to help in letting us mentally slow old folks know it's sarcasm. :hungry:
At 1st, I read it as that, but then the morals thing didn't pertain. Oh well.. no harm, no foul eh? :D2: :toast:

PopcornTreeCt was just suggesting waiting until Rent does become available for enrollment. It just means keeping the account open for a few extra months. Seems like a perfectly valid suggestion to me; while Rent isn't guaranteed to become an enrollment, it seems likely that it will.

That's probably what I'll end up doing. Thing is I'll probably want to use Rent as an enrollment title for a new account rather than using the "coupon". I know I probably sound like a guy complaining because his gold shoes are too tight and I don't want to sound ungreatful because I think it is very cool of CH to give me a free dvd, but I just am finding it harder than I thought to find something that I wouldn't want to use as an enrollment package in the future. I like the suggestion of using it to get the wife something though. That may be the winner.
