a few i really like, most coming from my collection

Guster - "(Nothing But) Flowers"
Roger Clyne and the Peacmakers - "Baba O'Riley" (not on a cd release, but they play it at their shows)
William Shatner - "Rocketman"
Ben Folds - "Bitches Ain't Shit"
Kasey Chambers - "Dam" (oriinally by Matthew Ryan)
Better Than Ezra - "Laid" (although the James original is better, i still like this version)
Big Head Todd - "Tangerine"
Counting Crows - "Big Yellow Taxi" (the version WITHOUT vanessa carlton)
Iron and Wine - "Such Great Heights" (i really like the orginal, too, but the slower tempo on this one is great)
Jack Johnson - "We're Going to be Friends" (great laid-back cover of the white stripes)
Lemonheads - "Mrs. Robinson"

and one of the best ever:

Jeff Buckley - "Hallelujah"

I've mentioned this before in another thread : John Mellencamp's cover of Bob Dylan's "Like A Rolliing Stone" from the 30th Anniversary Concert CD is just amazing; evven giving the original a run for it's money. That collection has Johnny Cash and June Carter doing "It Ain't Me Babe, as well -- another classic.

The Doves - "Blackbird" (The Beatles)
Owsley - "Band On The Run" (Paul McCartney)
Semisonic - "The Air That I Breathe" (The Hollies)

Goo Goo Dolls - "Don't Change" (INXS)

Mine have been listed above, so I'll throw in the ones I hate:

Any of Six Feet Under's covers of AC/DC songs. Terrible.
