PS2 online games (and recommendations)

(note: I did a search, and didn't come up with anything similiar, so making a new thread)

I've been a PS2 owner for awhile, but since I might start playing it more, I was debating getting a PS2 adapter and some games that I could play with it with a friend in a different state. Buy.com has the PS2 adapter for $15, which isnt' bad, plus I hear most games you can play for free on-line.

For those of you who play PS2 online, do you experience lag a lot? FYI, I have Comcast cable and will be hooking the PS2 into a Linksys router.

Also, what games do you recommend? I've read Socom 3 and X-Men Legends 2 are two good ones, but are there any other I'm missing? I'd love to play FF-X1 online, but I don't feel like shelling out $10/month, unless it's the best thing since sliced bread... (but it also requires a hard drive purchase, so it's not like I can rent it and try it out for cheap and then decide...). What is everyone's favorite PS2 games to play online?

If you're into rythm games, Amplitude is pretty fun online (and offline, for that matter).

Burnout Revenge is pretty good, too, as long as you aren't too bothered by unpolished games.

The last two Ratchet games are a blast online. It's amazing that an action platformer can morph into such a wonderful online squad based shooter, but it works very well.

Thanks! I definitly wouldn't have classified Ratchet games as fun online games. I'll have to rent one and try it out. Also, I did buy the network adapter and X-Men Legends 2, which I'll be playing on Sunday hopefully.
