Baywatch Coming to DVD soon?
From yahoo news:

Very vague news, but at least it shows that the DVD is on the works.
"Baywatch" washing up on DVD Mon Feb 13, 2:14 AM ET
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Beach-and-babes TV series "Baywatch" is finally headed to DVD.
A late-summer best-of set, with episodes chosen by star Pamela Anderson, will be the initial release, followed by complete series sets.
"Baywatch," which aired from 1989-2001, is again making headlines, with a big-budget movie in the works from director Eli Roth ("Hostel," "Cabin Fever").
The series gained fame for its look at the Southern California beach lifestyle as seen through the eyes of a team of sexy lifeguards.

the first season of this show that ran on nbc was actually not half bad. I doubt i would ever buy this show, but maybe S1 is possible if there is nothing else to buy at the time.

I know that this isn't the most usual source for DVD news but the June 2006 Stuff magazine has a mini blurb on page 86, saying that Baywatch DVDs are going to be released starting this August. First, they are releasing a best of DVD, with episodes being selected by Pamela Anderson. Then season sets are going to be released.

Don't worry, they got it right the second time:
I'd rather see this one on dvd myself.

Whatever interest-- not much beyond the season on NBC-- I may have had in these sets somewhere down the road was killed with this article by Gord Lacey.
Highlights: An episode is missing from the first and second seasons, including that which introduces Pamela Anderson (rights issues), and music has been replaced. Given the role music played, I can imagine the butchering that has been done.
Not that I would have really cared for this, but no, thank you-- definitely not in this condition.
--THX

Thanks God I kept the Nightmare Bay/River of No Return OOP DVD. The question now is,why the hell does Lionsgate keep that DVD OOP? I thought that they had lost the rights and the new sets were including this episodes.

Did anyone buy these? I picked up Season 1 and 2 from Best Buy (only 19.99 each)
1st and foremost, the fricking theme song was replaced!! "I'm always here" by Jimi Jamison was replaced with some hokey generic song that does not match the opening title credits.
Also, the sets include 2 episodes from the NBC version of Baywatch. Same deal with the theme song on those as well. The theme "Save me" by Peter Cetera was replaced with that god awful theme on the main episodes.

I expected the loss of the theme songs, but still bizarre to hear how staples of the show have been scrapped.
Happy to pass on these.
