I guess maybe we could give it a couple more days and see if anyone else wants to sign up. We have 15 of 32 slots filled. How bout on Tuesday, we can select another team? I dont care what other team I get, Ill settle for whats left over. But if some people have a preference, they can pick their other team.

Whats a good day to start this thing? Should we just start it and let people wander in and make their pick whenever, or should we draw up a schedule?

The NFL Combine is only a week or so away, how about waiting until after it's over to start drafting? I'm sure that we all would like to have a closer look at some of the prospects.

I agree...Not sure how feasible it is, but some type of schedule might be best.

codecomplete
02-19-06, 04:04 PM
Sure, otherwise someone's likely to hold up the draft. We should follow the NFL's draft procedure. Every person has a time limit, perhaps 24hrs to make their pick. You don't have to take all 24hrs, but you have to make a pick within 24hrs of the last person who picked or else lose your turn.

when it gets to the slower points.. require the next 5 teams in line to submit their list of their top 5 available players in order, through email

that way you can keep it moving without having to work around everyones schedule as tight

That seems like a good idea. And I like the idea of picking within a certain amount of time from the last pick. I wonder if 24 hours is too long, though. Maybe 12 hours would be better?

Dalvin

codecomplete
02-21-06, 08:49 PM
Yeah, 24hrs was just a working number. Anything that works for the majority should be fine. We should probably start nailing down final details like how much longer are we going to wait on people to pick a team and stuff like that. I know that the Combine is just around the corner, but I'm so excited that I want to pick now. Technically, since I'm on the clock, I probably can pick, right?

It's hard to say. Afterall, Chow and Fisher may even like Vince Young even. Young does have a lot of question marks, but it's hard to deny his talents and leadership qualities. He does make the people around him better. And if Chow is the supposed quarterback guru that people say he is, he can tailor any offense around whoever his quarterback is.

Funny thing I read about Cutler. NFL people seemed impress with his physical qualities, but apparently, he hasn't done well in personal interviews. It does raise the question of his leadership potental.

Well I'll tell you, they either pick Cutler or trade down. Senseless to pick anyone else that high.

Maybe a trade with the Raiders and hope D'brickashaw falls to #7?

Welp, it's been more than 8hrs. Let's give the Jets:

D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT, Virginia

Depending on what happens with Abraham, I'm also leaning toward Mario Williams. I know that Maurice Clarette is a popular choice here, but I'm sure we can find a better back in the latter rounds. rotfl

8 hours? I'd feel bad about signing off on that, you fellas gave me at least a day.

With the 5th pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, the Packers select Super Mario Williams. Mario is too good to pass up on even though the Packers need a DT and LB.

I've been saying they should take Davis to give Smith a guy to lean on, but everyone I talk to seems to think they're going defense since Nolan is a ex-defensive coordinator.

I literally flipped a coin between Ngata and Justice, figuring if it went the way it did you'd take Justice....forgot all about Hawk at that spot, but still don't think Detroit would take him with Boss and Lehman there.

gmal2003
03-12-06, 02:25 PM
They wouldnt pass up on Hawk if there. Lehman and Bailey have been injury prone and theyve always wanted to play Lehman at MLB, but had more depth inside than out so keep him there. I thought about Justice but there's alot of depth at OL this year and a quality guy could be had in rounds 2-4. There's some guys at LB that'll be around too but the drop off from Hawk is much more significant that from Justice. If I really had it my way with Huff and Williams gone Id bait someone in on the Vernon Davis sweepstakes (like we did Cleveland with Winslow) and nab another starter and/or draft picks and then draft Justice with my mid round pick.

Comittee/vote is actually a good idea.

Make it like 3 hours a pick, most votes gets that player picked. We could complete round 1 in a week that way. Then drop it to 2 or 1 hours a pick to move on.

7 rounds? Doubtful.

I've decided, after a long thought...

With the 14th pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, the Eagles select, from Florida State University, Defensive Tackle, Brodrick Bunkley.

Reasoning: I am very, very scared by the memory of Mike Mamula. And Bunkley is one of those workout freaks who has shot up the draft, just like Mamula did. But... Bunkley was already a first round pick, he just moved higher. Mamula came out of nowhere and conned the Eagles into drafting him in the top 10. Plus my brother, an FSU student, has seen him play every game the last two years and vouches for him. So there's my scouting department. Bunkley creates a great presence in the middle to anchor the very good DE tandem the Eagles have now.

Edit: Plus....

1) We obviously missed Corey Simon last year. We need a good DT, and Bunkley's the best one left in the draft at this point.
2) I also considered Santonio Holmes and LenDale White. But right now I'd rather go for the DT. IRL, I might try trading down a few spots and getting a Chad Jackson.

Actually, I hope this doesn't make it unsexy but I'll give the next 2 guys, in order, we'd draft. That way once Cincy picks, my pick can be automatic.

I say we go on with the latter rounds by commitee. The funner part of the mock draft imo. :D
Our round 1 looks pretty darn good other than probably the first few picks gonna be shuffle with Brees to the Saints. Leinart is still a no.2 imo, perhaps some team will trade up with the Saints?,who knows at this point.

I think its time to pick for Indy. How bout Demeco Ryans?

Jeremy517
03-21-06, 02:41 PM
Most drafts have them taking an OLB or a RB. Colts say they're happy with Rhodes (and I'm not sure if any RB left is worth a pick here), so probably either Ryans, Carpenter, or Howard, depending on how you rank them. Ryans is fine with me.

Ryans has been mentioned in several mock drafts as going to the Colts, so he's my choice here.

The Seattle Seahawks select Ko Simpson, S, South Carolina

Marquand Manuel left via free agency, and Ken Hamlin's health is a big unknown. It could have been an OLB here, but the pickup of Peterson negates the need.

Sure. We can probably speed it up a bit by remembering who didn't pick in round one and picking by committee for them right away. We got through all seven rounds last year, if I remember right, so we should be able ot get a few more rounds in if we want.
