Help with Multi Region player

Hey All,

I'm looking to get myself a multi region DVD Player (something that will play cd+/-r dvd+/-r divx, and can play R1, R2, R0, PAL, NTSC, pretty much everything...


any recommendations on players? people have told me about the Phillips DVP642 but apparantly it doesnt' have great Pal -> NTSC Conversion

any help would be greatly appreciated

I think the 642 has pretty good conversion in that PAL discs look about the same as NTSC. Just overall it isn't all that great on video quality. I was much happier with my Malata (til it blew up) than a Philips player, but players like that may be much pricier.

I wonder how this model is. Not sure if it does PAL-NTSC conversion. Think so, but can't tell:

If it's brethren are any indication, it should be excellent for a non-HDTV.

ya, i'm not looking to get into anything too pricy.. I want a multi region player that can play divx, for the fact i can download tv shows not available in canada & watch, and get those PAL region dvds that don't play on my multi changer player. For regular dvds that i'd watch daily i'd stick to my DVD Changer
