Need new receiver suggestions.
So I have Sony STR-DA3000ES which works perfect, however we bought a new unit in which to store the equipment, it looks very nice. My only job was to make sure all our stuff would fit.
Of course like any man, I just assume it'll fit, and does it, heck no it doesn't.
The receiver has to be 15" Deep max.
I bought an AVR340 from Harman Kardon, and it fits perfectly however the component switching on it is really really bad. It can't handle anything over 480i or p coming through, and that's no good to me with my HDTivo.
I need/want component switching as my TV is the panny commerical unit with no speakers etc..
Budget in or around $500.
I've been tempted to look at the panasonic stuff.

Can you cut out the back of the shelf? I managed to get my receiver right in front of the biggest hole in mine, which made just enough room for the wires to stick out without needing to cut it, but I was prepared to cut.
People say great things about the Panny's. Might be worth a try, they should be small enough.

break out the saw! Although there may be some exceptions of which I'm not aware, all of the small receivers I have seen are a bit crappy. The case needs to be big enough to hold a decent sized power supply, heat sink, etc. - small cases mean small power supplies, usually. Besides, cutting furniture is why we all got into this hobby, right?

the mrs is adamant that no cutting be done to this work of art piece of furniture, as it was hand crafted by amazonian sheep herders up on brokeback mountain in the middle of summer.
Carved from a single piece of wood, so new screws or anything in it.

nice looking furniture - I see the problem now. How about keeping the HK receiver that you liked and adding a remote controlled video switcher? I imagine there is a decent one for less than $100 - someone help me out, please.
Another option is putting the Sony somewhere out of sight and running cables. Is there a nearby, yet descrete, place for the receiver?
