Nothing groundbreaking but if you're a fan of the horror genre, then yeah... For Wally World dump bin prices, absolutely. I've enjoyed it, both times that I've watched it... Not sure why it got the crappy reviews and bad word of mouth that I heard when it was released? It is what it is (what were the critics expecting?) and it's well done. Go for it.

Chalk me up as one more vote for "buy it". If you like to laff at your horror movies (not in a jeez this is cheese sort of way, nor "Scary Movie" sort of way) then it's a blast. Saw it in the theater and laffed my ass off.
"That's for *******s." That killed me.

I think the bad reviews came mostly from people expecting a scary horror film as the trailers/tv spots implied. When the film is really an absurd dark comedy.
But even as a dark comedy it was not 100% successful and sometimes felt forced. But there are some amusing moments throughout and I did enjoy it in the end.
Hostel is a more serious film and far more disturbing than this film I think. Yet it still retains some of Elis macabre humor scattered throughout. So if you want disturbing horror..Hostel is the better pick. If you want absurd macabre comedy. Cabin Fever is a pretty good time..especially for the $5 price now.

If Roth and Zombie are our only hope for the horror genre, then we are in trouble. Do yourself a favor, and go out and buy a Carpenter, Craven, or even Barker film on DVD.
That's my advice. Although I do agree that $5 presents very little risk, even if you hate the film.

I don't recommend anything as a good blind buy as everyones mileage differs. This one especially since the opinions are in are so wide spread and unpredictable. I personally enjoyed it but see most people didn't in message boards.
