Jarhead Collector's Edition - Cancelled **big chain stores will have it
Just heard from one of my distributors that Universal has canceled the upcoming 2 disc collector's version of Jarhead. No word on a new date or anything yet.
I guess universal knew how to quit him.
**edited for the update...
Large chain stores like best buy and Wal-mart will apparently have the deluxe edition.

The Ed Wood DVD was cancelled, and made it to the shelves anyways, causing a frenzy and high value for the dvd. Then released later missing a bonus feature.

Oh, I didn't know when the announced release date was. No, it's unlikely. The Ed Wood discs were shipped out to vendors and chains, then the chains were told that the release was canceled and ordered not to sell them on release date. Sam Goody and a couple of other stores apparently didn't get the memo and sold them for a week or so. That won't be the case here.

I hate Universal. I hope whoever ordered the cancellation dies a slow and painful (and violent) death.
Jarhead is one of my favorite movies from last year and I wanted an excellent set that covered the making of the film, not some barebones single disc.

I'm not too disappointed. I was planning on getting the single disc. I really liked the movie, but the 1-disc is plenty. It still has 2 commentary tracks, deleted scenes, and the extended news interviews.

i think i smell a classic double dip opprotunity. I think universal might just bring it out 3 months later or something just to try to make some money. Either way it sucks to high heaven, i had it preordered.

Sunday Morning, who's your distributor, and what sort of store do you run?
A similar thing happened with Universal's Cinderela Man collector's edition - a couple weeks before it came out, my local store said that his distributor told him that it had been canceled. Sure enough, he never got any collector's editions, but as you all know, the big chains, like Best Buy, Circuit City, ect. got it and it wasn't really canceled.
Oh, and it's still available on Amazon:

And they're usually on top of this kind of stuff.
