Is this a new cell phone, or just a service? How is it different from any of the other services that page you with sports scores, etc.?

no idea - hoping someone had it and could give more details. id love to get it if it meant better updating scores and stats. my phone gives just occasional updated scores but little else.

The coverage map for my area is a Sprint coverage map (minus Sprints new broadband coverage) so I wonder if the cell coverage is through Sprint.
EDIT: Just did some further looking & yes the service is powered by Sprint.

I was at Best Buy the other day and saw one of these phones. Has anyone got one of these yet? I would like one but the rates seem a little high IMO.

ESPN has a pretty good mobile site if your phone/PDA has a web browser on it. I think the URL is wap.espn.com
