Well there was the whole debacle in 1997, Austin won the rumble but didn't get a title shot at WM. It went to the Undertaker, since they had to have Austin and Hart wrestle at WM because of HBK.

Thanks to Lita's chairshot, Edge holds a new victory over the champ.... and beating the champ usually leads to a title shot.

It says Road to Wrestlemania, but I don't think it specifies that the winner gets a shot at Wrestlemania. Everything from here to Wrestlemania is the Road to Wrestlemania. Since there's no RAW PPV before WM, I would think this is a good way to get a mini-PPV RAW title match before WM. I think it would be weird for somebody to jump Edge after his win, and without him being a part of the tournament.

We're talking about the man that could have made a shit-ton of money in the WCW/ECW "invasion" angle, but instead pissed it all away just to prove a point that apparently everyone else had already realized - that he had won the "wrestling wars."
We're talking about the man that took Paul Heyman off of booking duties, despite the fact that the ratings went up while Paul was booking. Not to mention he refuses to remove his daughter as head writer, despite the fact that many have traced the beginning of the WWE's downturn to when she took over.
So yes... Vince can be that dumb.

Sorry to tell you this, but ignoring history doesn't mean that it didn't happen. The people that you're so upset with are basing their assumptions off of what has happened before.
And I'm going to assume you meant "invincible," not "invisible." And you're wrong. As long as he is married to the boss' daughter, who is the head writer, he is invincible. When Vince decides to retire, it's Trips and Stephie that will take over the business.
And you thought last year when Lesner v. Goldburg was so bad. Didn't Vince learn his leason.
Brock vs. Goldberg being bad wasn't Vince's fault. It was a good big-man match on paper, but in the end both Lesnar and Goldberg demonstrated how unprofessional they were and decided to sleepwalk through their match.

Anybody who wears this in public needs to seriously reevaluate their lives
No, I didn’t know Eddie as well as some. And, as I mentioned earlier, I’m not an expert on what Eddie would have wanted. But, I have to believe that what Eddie would have wanted — and what we gave him last Friday on SmackDown — are two very different things.
I do not believe that Eddie’s wife appreciated the “Eddie’s in Hell” declaration. She just lost her husband. Mourning his loss is difficult enough.
I do not believe that Randy Orton needs this type of cheap heat to be effective. No one knows better than I that Randy is an incredible talent. He can wrestle, he can talk, and he exudes an extreme brand of cockiness in the ring that makes him a natural bad guy. He doesn’t need this.
I’m not against having Eddie’s memory as an enduring legacy of SmackDown. I was touched by Batista’s recent heartfelt words, and I don’t doubt for a moment that Rey Mysterio feels genuinely motivated by his late mentor’s spirit. And as I’ve told Chavo on a few different occasions, I considered the frog splash a tribute to Eddie on the night of his death to be one WWE’s truly great moments.
But the recent SmackDown episode did not honor his legacy, it exploited his death. I hope it will end, and the sooner the better. For by exploiting his death we achieve what I thought wouldn’t be possible: We cheapen his life.

Eh... Styles isn't fitting in well. He was OK with his style in ECW (although maybe nostalgia makes people forget that he was very repetitve there... OH MY GOD!!!!!!!), but Vince is trying to make him change over to the "WWE Style," better known as the "shitty announcer" style.
To say Ross was overrated, though, shows ignorance of history. He might not be the announcer he used to be, but he's probably the #2 play by play man in wrestling history (Gordon Solie being #1, of course). If anything, I'd blame his decline on the same thing that is making Styles so bad in that position - Vince McMahon wanting everything done the "WWE style."

I'm surprised there's been no mention of this yet: Matt Cappotelli, the OVW champion and former Tough Enough winner was recently diagnosed with brain cancer. Here's a recap of his speech from http://www.wrestlingobserver.com/wo/news/headlines/default.asp?aID=15449

Cappotelli updates his condition at tonight's OVW tapings
by Dave Meltzer
Dave@wrestlingobserver.com
Matt Cappotelli announced in the ring at the Danny Davis Arena in Louisville that he had brain cancer in a long and highly emotional and religious speech.
The 26-year-old OVW champion gave the championship belt back to Danny Davis, saying that he can't do the title justice because he can't defend it. He said that his doctors told him, on a scale of one-to-four, four being the worst, that his cancer was a two. He said he was exploring his options but would be undergoing surgery, and likely chemotherapy. His doctors told him it was too soon to determine whether he would wrestle again. The building was in tears as Cappotelli, who stopped several times, got down and prayed in the ring, and said he would like to get in contact with anyone in pain and try and help them through it. All the wrestlers surrounded the ring as he gave his speech. All of the wrestlers got in the ring with him.
The show ended before 10 p.m. Eastern time, and Cappotelli stayed until past midnight talking to every fan who wanted to talk with him, exchanging addresses, numbers or e-mails, until he had talked with virtually every fan that attended the show.
The speech will air on the OVW TV show that airs on Saturday.
They did a regular television taping up until that point, which featured The Miz & Chris Cage winning the tag team titles from Seth Skyfire & Chet the Jet.
Video of the entire speech is up on the WWE site at: http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/cappotelliovw

I agree about the Tag belts, WWE has two sets of tag belts and one or two real tag teams, they should unify the tag belts, or just drop the Smackdown tag belts and have a tag team wrestling division only on Raw, which would open up more space on Smackdown to spotlight the cruiserweight division.
I really miss the days of tag team wrestling where they had real tag teams, The Islanders, Hart Foundation, Demolition, ect. Now days it's just two random single wrestlers thrown together for no real reason.
Great thing about TNA is they have a real tag team division - AMW, 3D, Canada, Diamonds, Naturals, James Gang, LAX, ect
I would go with the Raw tag belts because they are the original WWE tag belts (unifed with the original WCW tag belts) where as the belts on Smackdown are about 4 years old.

I would say that the great thing about TNA is the Xdivision. Otherwise, they're just as guilty of just pairing up random wrestlers. Two out of the four in the tourney were pretty random pairings of x-division stars, and team canada doesn't really seem to have a dedicated tag team. Diamonds also kinda started as random wrestlers, and are relegated to jobber status right now too. It's really AMW vs. 3D for the tag belts, and whatever fued they have between the James Gang and LAX.
