I think the name has something to do with a (finger) ring.

It's set at a military academy, there's murder I believe, and The Citadel keeps being mentioned. Solomon for some reason sounds familiar. Thanks! :)

I would guess The Lords of Discipline by Pat Conroy, except for the finger (ring) and The Citadel being mentioned things, so basically I have no idea
