This is the best I can recall for the two weekends in question, not having been obsessed about the tourney the last few years...

Second round Saturday - 8 games, 4 different game slots, starting ~noon - 10 pm ET with _maybe_ a 1-hour break half way for news, I can't remember.

Second round Sunday - 8 games, 3 different game slots, starting ~noon - 7 pm ET going straight through with no breaks.

Fourth round Saturday - 2 games, back to back, all afternoon

OK, I signed up. Now there's 9 -- so you really could use 1 more for an even number (no bye weeks). Like I said, I never did Fantasy Baseball before, so be patient. At least you have someone to try to convince that giving up ARod for Clemens is a good idea :) It would be nice to know what categories we're definately going with as soon as possible -- so we know how to plan out our draft strategy. As far as I'm concerned, for H2H, closer to 5x5 than a 30-category monster is better. Too many freak categories (all counting the same in H2H) just seems like it'll make the whole thing random. I like the idea of categories that actually reward getting a good balanced baseball team, and isn't that far off from a typical H2H Fantasy league.

I think that's a reasonable suggestion. You've got the 10 staples there. H and AVG might be a little redundant -- I don't know, its not a biggie. It does reward guys that stay in the lineup. I like BB in there -- if not represented in its own cat, it should be there as OBP or OPS. I don't care for K(-) so much, but again no biggie. To my eyes, its not really a cat that seems to have much bearing on whether a player is good or not (many of the best hitters of all-time rank high in Ks). I like the pitchings cats you list. Some like Holds, but that's kind of a flukey stat, with seemingly random pitching personel. We certainly don't need more (-) stats -- that would tilt strategy away from a balanced team towards an advantage for managers that just play all relievers with the bare minimum SPs to meet the IP requirements (and allow for cheap "wins" by just not playing guys).

Anyway, to sum up I'd be fine with Wabio's suggestions. Personally, I'd ditch the (-) categories, but that's just my preference. Here's a stupid question: in the league settings, I see the various categories that the commisioner can set. If anything's not listed, does that means its standard Yahoo settings (like 162 games for each position, and 1250 IP season limits)? Or am I reading the rules wrong on this?

Personally I think Roto is harder because you need to be pretty balanced, but I love points games. Seems a lot more realistic as category differential matters a great deal where as only ranking matters in Roto.

To me H2H seems harder to win because your final season stats are based on weekly performances. If your team has say....5 really bad weeks, you're in big trouble. One super hot week can't make up for lost ground because the losses have already been recorded. Plus, there's the playoffs. It's almost like March Madness. Any playoff team has a chance to win if they can stay hot for a few weeks.

One super hot week can't make up for lost ground because the losses have already been recorded. Plus, there's the playoffs. It's almost like March Madness. Any playoff team has a chance to win if they can stay hot for a few weeks.When I played several years ago, it was with a DVDTalk league and a good third of the teams were inactive which really saped the fun. 4 teams made the playoffs which were in the last two weeks of the season. Of course several of my best players got some extra rest days in preparation for the playoffs and starts were juggled to get lineups prepared as well, both severely hurt my chances and I exited the first round.
