Can you remember where you bought EVERY dvd in your collection?

Just a simple question. Can you?

I suppose it'll be tougher for those who have over a thousand DVDs and have been collecting for over 5 years. And it could be easier for those who do exclusive online shopping.

But even I stumped myself with one title in my lil' collection, Batman:The Movie (1966) , which I seriously have no memory of when and where I got this.

Are you up to the challenge?

For me, just about.

I do the same thing with theatrical movies in terms of location.

Nope. But I'd guess at least half are from DDD.

Yes.

A few I got in England, I got some as presents, and the rest I got from the same shop I always go to.

I probably could, except for a few that were gifts maybe. I've got around 300. I save the receipt and stick it in behind the inserts whenever possible.

And then for the last year or so I enter that info into into Profiler or DVDSpot when I enter the DVD.

Pretty sure that I could for all 700 of mine, along with an approximate price.

I believe so. Of course, I'm not sure of where some gift DVDs were purchased.

This is slightly off topic, but where did you get Twelve Monkeys special edition from?

The only one I can get is this one;

http://www.play.com/play247.asp?pa=s...&Go.x=0&Go.y=0

They have the exact one at the shop I go to aswell.

Nope.

I started waaaay to long ago. I got alot from www.reel.com and www.800something??? ...also, www.dvdexpress.com was good too. Damn, the coupons back then were soooooo good. I remember those $20 reel.com coupons were awesome!

Now, I normally buy from DDD, Best Buy or Amazon. Just whoever has the best price or for convenience.

I CAN remember my first DVD though, I got it free when I bought my first Sony DVD player in 1997 or maybe 98...it was LA Confidential.

I can't do it but I'd say the vast majority of mine are from Best Buy, Suncoast, FYE, Newbury Comics and Wal-Mart.

I probably could. I never made a habit of going out and buying whatever. Just about every title has its place within the collection and I have a knack for recalling things like where I got them from. I could probably also recall under what circumstances (i.e. a sale).

Actually, I'm not sure how you could be hazy on how or where you got your DVDs from. Just seems like something you should be able to recall, unless you were buying just for the sake of it.

I passed the 1000 mark in early December (not sure how many I've added since then). I'd say I could probably tell you where I got about 95% of them. Why? I have no idea. It's a sickness, I guess.

I bought my first 4 DVDs from www.justlaserdiscs.com (Ironic, isn't it). That was before Reel.com, 800.com, DVDExpress.com, etc. I even started a small business in 1998 and was ordering them wholesale from a company in New York and selling to all my friends for $1 over my cost (about 20% off MSRP, which was a couple dollars lower than anywhere else at the time). Once the online companies started flooding the market and selling at 30% off MSRP, and ultimately Best Buy and Circuit City starting up in 1999, I could get them cheaper at retail and closed the business in mid-1999.

I know where I bought every DVD in my 1500+ collection, EXCEPT ONE, "Road Trip". That is the only DVD that I lost my receipt for before I finished filling up my DVD database (since I started forgetting which DVD's I owned).

Well, since I use DVD Profiler, it's not too difficult.

It's only a problem involving the DVD's I bought before I started using Profiler. But the location wasn't the tough part on those, it was a bigger problem trying to figure out the actual day I bought them.

Not exact dates, but I know if one disc is older than another. I have about 40 DVD's lumped at the same date in DVD Profiler, mainly ones I bought in B&M's and forgot when. I probably have the receipts, but don't bother looking.

Naming the studios, though. . . that's easy.
