There is nothing worse on this board than seeing the bragging threads all over this place. I could care less how many dvd's people own, their personal set-up's, blah bla blah. These bozo's seem to think normal people like to see this crap but we don't. You waste money on dvd's...good for you! You own 4,000 dvd's...good for you! You have a awesome home theatre...good for you! Stop thinking you are king and GET A LIFE!

I don't see anyone bragging on here. Most with that size of collection rarely mentions it unless they're asked.
I have a feeling this thread won't be open very long.

Then why are you reading threads that annoy you?
"Bragging" threads (whether they are or aren't) have been around since day one.

Who's bragging?
Threads are usually formalized questions, which I like many others, simply answer and depart.

The threads to show pictures of your Home Theater setup and/or Dvd Collection are some of my favorite ones on the site!! I find them very useful to get Shelving/Storage ideas, Home Theater upgrade/layout ideas, as well as from time to time I'll see Special Editions in peoples collections of my favorites movies that I didn't even know existed!!
I would like to add I have 8000 dvd's in my collection, and have recently purchased the cineplex down the street to turn into my personal home theater!! (lol...yeah right I WISH!!)

How about those threads posters start just to spout off about how posters are bozos and need to get a life? Man, those "You think you're better than me?!" threads really chafe me. -wink-

OP, I have no opinion of you either way, but can you make up your mind? Eleven minutes after you created this thread, you posted this (http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showpost.php?p=6750482&postcount=5):
Get a job you loser. People can do what they want, they don't need you telling them the rules....If we want your opinion we will give it to you marty..
People can buy as many DVDs as they want, they don't need you telling them what's bragging....If we want your opinion we will assume it's the opposite of what you said eleven minutes ago.
Tick tock, it's almost time to change your mind!

Agreed 100%. In the threads that the OP is mentioning, I don't really see any bragging...just questions being answered.

On the other side, it seems that you started a thread having that huge envy to other members collection and worst, you can't afford them
I could care less how many dvd's people own, their personal set-up's, blah bla blah.
as if you did not care starting this thread for the sake of other member's collection you did not reach.

I personally like knowing that I'm not the only one that's crazy enough to collect as many DVD's and are committed to creating a home theater atmosphere.
It's kinda hard finding everyday people that care as much and are passionate about the subject as most of us are.
I look at it not as bragging, but more being part of a group of people that love film and HT related material. Some people's "bragging" has motivated me with new ideas in my own setup.

Why join a forum called DVDTalk if the last thing you want to talk about is DVDs...which clearly extends to talk about people's collections, setup and overall love of DVD... I have never seen a "BRAGGING" thread where someone just decided to post a "I have 1 million dvds in my collection! I'm awesome!" post...like most have said, someone asks, people answer...get over it.

It appears to me that he's envious, and jealous. It's not a matter of boasting about the quanity, or quality of our Home Theater Equipment, and movies, but we as forum members enjoy sharing info with others .

I don't think anyone is bragging.
Someone asks a question and people answer. I think it's interesting to see how many people dvds have.

It's the age-old adage, now in home theater form:
Anyone driving faster than me is a maniac and anyone going slower is a moron.

Yeah, I honestly haven't seen too many braggarts here.
Mostly it's interesting getting into the psychology behind it all. I think that's what's been driving the types of "bragging" posts you're talking about - I don't see it as a "mine is bigger than yours" mentality.

Billyspunk if you really have a problem w/ these sorts of threads the easiest solution is to stop reading them. If you think they are overtaking the forum, please post a thread in the Feedback and Support Forum http://dvdtalk.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=4 which is the most appropriate venue to discuss such a thing. I STRONGLY recommend though to take a more tactful approach if/when you do. As people have mentioned there are rules again personal attacks on this forum and a GET A LIFE! attitude is not something we support here. If you want that level of rheotric there are plenty of places on the net for it. We are trying to keep DVDtalk a little more civil than that.
