I was told to hook up my DVD with component cables and audio cables to my HTIB receiver and then run the S-Video cable from the DVD directly into my HDTV... Did this, looks decent. However, I was thinking that maybe the component cables should be connected DIRECTLY into the TV, the 2 audio cables into my receiver and no need for the S-Video...
Please, any advice will be appreciated...

Yes, hook up the DVD player via component to HDTV. As for audio, hook up via optical or digital coax from DVD to receiver.

You can hook the DVD directly into the HDTV with component. Or if hooked into the receiver, make sure there is a "video out" that is component cables going into the TV. There's no need to do both.
