A new format is on the way and I'm STILL waiting for the following to be released. What are you still waiting for?

Me:

Crossing Delancey (1988)
Hamlet (1996)
High Road to China (1983)
Major and the Minor, The (1942)
White Nights (1985)

RAD!!! The 1985 Hal Needham lensed biking classic. I think it's the first movie to use Real Life's song Send Me an Angel in a musical montage sequence, which was later used to a lesser effect in Teen Wolf Too.

There is such a cult for this movie that someone (MGM/Sony) would be wise to release it.

Godzilla 1985 would be cool....I have a version I got off ebay that's is english dubbed. It seems they are going to use the release of King Kong to release some Godzilla flicks so maybe.

I saw a new release of the American version and the Cartoon based on it.

These threads are always so popular (well, I like'em); everyone wants to air out what they wish were available. When some of my MIAs have been released in the past couple of years, I've almost been disappointed ... is it better to want them than to have them?

In no particular order (wants for region 1 only, some may be out in other regions):

Pretty Poison
The Wrong Box
The Bed-Sitting Room (was this scheduled for 2006?)
The Decline of Western Civilization I, II, and III

A decent release of Lola Montes ... the separate German and French versions of the film, which have both been found and restored I believe. It's in print now with a weak non-anamorphic transfer, and as such, is the only Max Opuls film on DVD in R1 as far as I know.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains
Brewster McCloud
The Westerner (TV Series)

Orson Welles's Othello back in print with an option for the original soundtrack ... include the new, modified one as well but include the original.

Reflections in a Golden Eye (full color and desaturated color versions included)

Wise Blood
The Dead
The Gang's All Here
Gabriel Over the White House
Ruby in Paradise
Eréndira
Before the Rain
The Blue Bird (1940)
Welcome to L.A.
Mädchen in Uniform
Pandora's Box
1900
Berlin Alexanderplatz
The Fool Killer
Sticks and Bones (TV)
A Taste of Honey (1961)
Who's Minding the Mint?
The T.A.M.I. Show
Darktown Strutters (1975)
Mandingo
Drum
The Klansman
Witchfinder General
The Shooting (1967)
Performance
El Cid
The Last of the Secret Agents?
The Conformist

Decent versions of A Star is Born (1937) and Nothing Sacred (1937), both of which are in the public domain. Supposedly Disney has restored NS from film elements they own through the David O. Selznick library; I don't know whether they have done anything on ASiB.

Ditto for Becky Sharp, from the UCLA restored version. The public domain versions are from Cinecolor prints.

Ditto for a decent version of One-Eyed Jacks.

Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!
Captain Horatio Hornblower (1951)
Mouchette
Black Lizard (Kurotokage) (1968)

etc. ... etc. ... etc. ... etc. ... :)

<b>Thundarr the Barbarian</b>

Voltron (Go-Lion; preferrably a release like Ronin Warriors)

Robin Hood: Men in Tights

Hey guys, Weird Science has been out on DVD for years now. Originally on a bare bones Image released disc, and then Universal itself re-released it, twice.

First, as part of the HIGH SCHOOL REUNION collection - along with Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles, which you could buy in a 3 pack box set, or seperately. And more recently, as the re-released and re-titled BRAT PACK COLLECTION. There's also 3 O'Clock High, which carries the "HSR" title, but was not included in the box set, as it was not directed by John Hughes, and doesn't include much of the same cast.

The sequel to the original Mad Max was officially entitled:The Road Warrior not Mad Max 2Official with whom? It was released worldwide as Mad Max 2. It was renamed by its North American distributor to make it sound 'better'.

The first film was also made 'better' for US audiences by over-dubbing Mel Gibson with an American voice (although he is American of course, he's got an Australian accent having lived their since childhood).

I think all the latest versions of Mad Max have the correct Gibson voice and are uncut. Thank gawd.

I'm waiting for lots of things to show up on DVD in R1

The Glass Key
Double Indemnity
The Blue Dahlia

But most of all...

Bogart -
All Through the Night
Conflict
Black Legion
Invisible Stripes
King of the Underworld
etc.

Across the Pacific
Action in the North Atlantic
and
Passage to Marseilles
are all coming out this year.

I just wish Warners would release those titles a little quicker -like Paramount does with their catalog titles. Paramount may release a lot of bare bones classics, but the picture quality is usually really good, and just having those movies on DVD at all is something I'm glad to see.

Still waiting on:
Star Wars theatrical cuts (doubtful)
Twin Peaks re-issue and Season 2
Batman (1966 TV show)

Could go for:
Night of the Creeps (IIRC I heard Columbia has the rights to this one)

Special Editions of:
Blade Runner
The Road Warrior
Braveheart
Apocalypse Now (both cuts)
Lethal Weapon 1 + 2
Grosse Pointe Blank
The Naked Gun (Considering Paramount's track record of naming SEs of things, we could be getting the "Nice Beaver" edition if it ever happened)
Beetlejuice
Austin Powers (with the Christian Slater scenes and maybe some other goodies)

And at the end of the day, approaching ten years of DVD collecting (it'll be the 1-0 on December 20, 2007), my top ten favorite movies are all available in substantial special editions.

Why is it that most of these wonderful films, and programs can't get released on dvd? Why do their studios shelf them for so long, and make people wait and wait for it. Can't studios make these features available in a limited way, so consumers at least have a shot at picking these up.

Studios don't always have to mass market everything like they do, some studios are better at releasing their catalogs than others.

There has got to be a highly economical way for studios to do this, without causing to much friction on their budgets.

But instead, years and years go by, and the people wait.
