With the road to wrestlemania beginning now with the Royal Rumble this sunday, what are some of your match predictions?

I am thinking something along the line of

Shawn Michaels vs Vince McMahon

Triple H vs Edge (Since Trips will most likely win rumble this weekend)

Big Show vs Kane (One will get the other out at the rumble, hence feud will start)

Angle vs Orton

JBL vs Orlando

Chris Masters vs Cena

Flair Vs Shelton Benjamin

Mark Henry vs Undertaker

RVD vs Carlito

Beniot vs Mysterio (time for a heel turn for one of these guys)

Or I could see a fatal 4 way for the title again, with Triple H, Cena, Edge, and maybe Flair

Hmm

WHC Match - Randy Orton vs Kurt Angle
WWE Title Match - Edge vs Flair
US Title Match - Benoit vs Booker T
Smackdown Tag Championship Match - MNM vs Simon Dean's new team
RAW Tag Champions Match - Kane & Big Show vs Spirit Team
Triple H vs Cena
Austin vs Hogan (Doubtful but I'm still hoping)
McMahon vs Michaels
Boogeyman vs Undertaker
Trish vs Mickie
Smackdown Money in the Bank - Rey, Matt Hardy, JBL, Lashley, Finlay, OJ

The sad thing is that Triple H does not need to win the Rumble. If they want him in the main event, he's a big enough star that he doesn't need to "win" a shot. Now that King of the Ring is nothing but a memory, they need to use the Rumble to "annoint" the next big star in the company.

I'd love to see Flair vs. Steamboat at Wrestlemania if they're going to have a legends match. It'd easily be better than Hogan vs. Austin.

McMahon vs. Michaels seems to be a guarantee, and it'll suck.

I'd rather see Austin/Hogan as it will be a fun match. I don't want Flair/Steamboat to go out there and have a subpar match. With Austin/Hogan you know that the wrestling will suck but at least the build-up/fan reaction will be amazing.

Hulk to win the steel cage match against Roddy Roddy Piper
Hacksaw Jim Duggan over the Iron Sheik
Earthquake and Tugboat over The Bushwackers
Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake over Ted Dibiase in chair match
And The Ultimate Warrior wins the 12 Man Brawl

But after the match, fans will realize what a piss-poor match it really was. A subpar Flair / Steamboat match, especially if it gives Ricky the proper send-off he deserved, will have just as good a build-up and a better in-ring performance than Hogan / Austin.

Also, I don't think you'll be able to convince either Hogan or Austin to do the j-o-b. On the other hand, I'll bet that Flair and Steamboat would be arguing over who gets to lay down for the other.

Nesbit

I don't know about that. Do people talk about what a piss-poor match Hogan/Rock was? I mean other than the people who said it was a piss-poor match at the time.

I was thinking about the jobbing problem with this match last night and the only way I see around it is to offer Hogan a lot of money and have the build up to the match be built around Hogan saying, "Stone Cold was never in my league." That way a win by Austin would just show that he was in his league. The build up to Michaels/Hogan was that Michaels would make Hogan realize that he was the greatest ever. Hogan will never lose a match that is built up that way.

Don't get me wrong. I would be happy to see a Flair/Steamboat matchup. I just think that it will:
1. Never live up to the expectations of old school NWA fans
2. Will not matter to anyone else

Predictions? I predict it'll suck unless the "Spirit Squad" is somehow involved..

Nesbit

I don't think that unproven gimicks our wrestlers should be at Wrestlemania. That includes the Boogeyman who could cross the line at any moment (I wanted that thing of the lady's face too but it was a little disgusting to see a guy eating it) or The Spirit Squad.

They should also have a single announce team. Having one announce team for a full event creates a flow in the commentary. If I had my choice I'd choose Tazz and a returning for Wrestlemania JR.

They need to make Wrestlemania special in every way possible. No Boogeymen running around breaking clocks over their heads. No Randy Orton/Kurt Angle match. Randy Orton is a waste. Sometimes the WWE should just admit that they are wrong. Randy Orton is not a main eventer now and he may never be one. Randy Orton is not The Rock. Randy Orton is barely Cowboy Bob Orton and that guy is famous for having a cast on his arm and being in Piper's corner at Wrestlemania. He does not belong in the WWE Hall of Fame. Wow sorry about that last part. I just had to get it off my chest.

They need to make Wrestlemania special in every way possible.

But IS it even possible at this point? With the current roster, it seems like without a gimmick match of some sort (ladders, tables, cages, cells), 90% of WWE matches are all pretty mediocre and well, just plain forgettable.
:(
I half expect them to bring back Butterbean and Lawrence Taylor for WM22.

Yes I think it is possible to make Wrestlemania special in every way possible :) . Things like having JR and Tazz (the best at what they do now IMO) call all of the action would be a throwback to when The Body and Gorilla use to do PPVs. Back then it was The Body and Vince McMahon on one Saturday morning show and Gorilla and Heenan on another but they would come together for Wrestlemania.

I just hope they put some effort into the set for WM22. I mean it's your biggest show of the year, at least do something different other than hanging up different looking curtains in the entranceway or having an odd shaped titantron. I always liked those elevated walkways that WCW (and ECW) used for PPV's sometimes that went right up to the ropes from the entrance, so the guys didn't have to walk up steps to enter the ring. Its a little thing but at least it looked different, felt a little more special.

Or have it outside! I always like the outside events which we rarely ever see these days. Those old Nitros they had in the summer where the ring was in the middle of a pool were awesome.

Ha Ha, That's exactly how I feel about Randy Orton too. :toast:

People get on Monty Brown's case for not being able to wrestle while they pretty much ignore the fact that Randy can't wrestle either.

At least if Monty and Randy got in a shoot-fight, Monty looks like he could kick Randy's ass while Randy would just be yelling throughout the fight "Not in the face, Not in the face!" -wink-

Triple Threat for WWE Title : Edge vs HHH vs Cena
WCW... err, i mean... World Title : Undertaker vs Kurt Angle
HBK vs McMahon
US Title : Booker T vs Orton
IC Title : Flair vs Masters
Cruiser : Kid Kash vs Sonny Siaki
Big Show vs Kane
JBL vs Boogieman
RVD vs Shelton
Rey Mysterio vs Mark Henry
MNM vs ??? - pretty sad when WWE has two tag team titles and I can't even think of two real tag teams that could have a match at WM

where's Chris Benoit? I predict he'll be wrestling on the PPV of another company that month against some guy called Samoa Joe.

I think the World title lineup will be decided by the Rumble and the WWE title lineup will just be based from a feud.

Benoit used the Rumble win to switch shows... remember, that's always a possibility so match prediction may be a mix of diff rosters.

Speaking of roster mixing, none of the preidictions above have Raw vs SD matches. Hmmm...

I don't watch Smackdown, so is Undertaker fueding with anyone currently? I'd like to see Vince pull some strings and have Taker Vs. HBK. It would be good to see them go at it again.

No he isn't and that wouldn't be a bad idea. The other good idea that I have heard is
JBL/Michaels. If Michaels loses he retires. If he wins he gets to be RAW's GM.

I like dadaluholla's idea. HBK vs. Taker, that would be a good send-off for Taker if it happens to be his final Wrestlemania. I don't see him winning the title at WM 22 vs. Kurt so HBK would be another viable option.

Tripple "Nach" vs the winner of Cena/Edge with Tripple "Nach" winning for the upteenth time.
or....
Tripple "Nach" vs Angle with Tripple "Nach" holding the title until Badteesta comes back .
or...
Cena vs Edge or Angle vs Benoit/Orton Depending on Tripple "Nach ":horse:
Flair/Steamboat will headline the WWE Leadgens PPV(only good one on there is if Rusty Dusty is booking it.)
SCSA/Hogan..Not in WWE (playing the Price is Right)
HBK vs Taker with Mc Nad in the mix
Raw vs Smackdown matches all over the PPV(hoping for Mama Shelton vs The Boogieman -eek- )

I'm not a huge Triple H fan (was in 2000 and 2001) and I have complained about his never ending pushes in the past but he hasn't hogged the spotlight since he returned. How long would he have to go without the title or a main event program for everyone to stop complaining about it being the "Triple H Show"?

I know Smackdown is in dire need, but the idea of putting Orlando Jordan in a Money in the bank match? I hope they do this idea, but come on...put London or Spanky in there. They're just as big of jobbers as Orlando.

It'd be pretty cool if they made the Money In The Bank Match a yearly thing.

I'm surprised everyone thinks Flair will still have the IC belt @ WM. I think it'll be on either Shelton or Carlito who'll be defending against RVD.

They'll start getting "Predicted" tonight after the Royal Rumble. This is where they usually start hyping cross-brand WM matches.

i wish they would use the red, white, and blue ring ropes for wrestlemania.. kind of like with big sporting events you see red, white, and blue banners.

After the Rumble I Predict the Main event to be....

Rey Mysterio vs. The Undertaker for the World title
Undertaker beats Angle at next PPV. Both undertaker's title and unbeaten steak are at stake. Its the perfect David vs Golioth story.

Plus
Cena vs HHH foe WWE title
RVD vs Carlito
Shawn Micheals vs Shane and Vince
Angle vs Orton
