At the DVD Producers panels at Comic-Con last summer, one of the panelist mentioned he was working on this... I can't remember which one mentioned this, though. He said fans of the movie will be happy with the release.

Funny that Blue Thunder of all things gets SE treatment and not Sorcerer. Friedkin burned too many metaphorical bridges, I guess.

This was one of the first DVDs I bought, nearly 6 years ago .... so I guess a double-dip is in order.

My friends and I back in second grade would have arguments over which helicopter would win: Blue Thunder or Airwolf.

I always said Blue Thunder.

I never realized it then, but Blue Thunder had Warren Oates in it and Airwolf had Ernie Borgnine. You couldn't split up the Wild Bunch like that. Wouldn't be right.

Ironically, we did the same as kids. However, I sided with Airwolf.

Awesome! This is definitely one of my favorite movies from the 80's. A friend's mom took us to see it and we went around calling each other JAFO for weeks. I'll pick this up release day even though I have the old DVD.

Excellent news, I was about to pick up the current disc until I saw Columbia dropped the widescreen version from it. Guess I lucked out for once.
