HELP with Panasonic SA-HE100 DVD component IN

I have 3 component connections on my receiver (TV/monitor OUT, DVD IN and TV IN). Manual doesn't explain about these connections. Can I connect my DVD player in the IN connection and then connect my TV/monitor OUT to my TV component IN? Since component is the best to use, I would like to use these on my receiver if possible.

Can anyone guide me on hooking these receiver connections. I have component DVD and TV connections.

Thanks in advance.

I assum you have component inputs on your tv? Do you have an HD cable box with component outputs? If so, here is what you should do - hook the DVD player to the DVD IN and the cable box to the TV IN. Then run a set of component cables from the TV/Monitor OUT to your TV.

Hi BobDole42: I have a non HD satellite box at the moment with only composite and S-video OUT. Will get HD satellite in a couple of months. My TV is a Sony FD-34HD420. I guess I can't use the receivers component DVD IN until I get a satellite receiver with component OUT if I'm to follow your directions?

Can I maybe hook the DVD player with component to the DVD IN of my receiver and the satellite box S-Video OUT the the TV IN. Then run a set of component cables from the TV/Monitor OUT to my TV. I guess I can't use S-Video to TV IN correct? I presume everything has to be component connections correct? What about my TV IN component receiver connections? Anything I should about that? Is it good to run component cables to my receiver's TV IN?

What is the advantage of running my DVD player through my receiver and TV/Monitor out to the TV?

If you have enough component inputs on your tv, just run the DVD player straight into the tv. I would connect the DVD player to the Sony tv using component cables and the cable box to the tv using S-video for now. I think that tv has multiple component inputs - if so, you won't need to run any video cables to the receiver.

Thanks for your help. I thought there might be some advantage of running things through my receiver. Then the way I have it set up is the way you mentioned. DVD video component direct to TV; coax audio from DVD to receiver and satellite box S-Video to TV.
Thx

The only advantage to running it through the receiver would be adding more inputs if you had an older tv with only one component input. It sounds like you have things set up just right. Enjoy your setup! If you have any questions when you get the HD sat box, let us know.
