There was an ad in todays (January 20, 2006) Dallas Morning News and shows the Firefly boxset for $4.99!! There is also a John Wayne title (boxset?) for the same price. Too good to be true?? They probably only have 3 titles per store. Good luck hunting!!

I saw that as well, and directly below that in the footer is the text 'Not Repsonsible for Typographical Errors'. Get there when they open and you may have a shot.

I don't believe it's a typo.
What it does appear to be is part of a bundle: Turbotax Deluxe 2006, Norton Systemworks, Firefly and a John Wayne 3-Pack, all free after rebate.
It does appear that the price is valid without the bundle to me. But with Fry's, it's hard to tell sometimes.

The deal is: buy TurboTax Deluxe or better, get Firefly for $4.99. The $4.99 price has an asterisk next to it, which refers to the teeny tiny fine print next to the picture of TurboTax Deluxe.
The John Wayne 3-pack is part of the same deal - it wasn't clear from the ad if you could get both movies with one purchase of TurboTax.

What a bizarre promotion!
OP, you might want to edit your title to include "with purchase of TurboTax"

i don't think the Norton has anything to do with Firefly or Turbotax.
From my view it's:
Norton Systemworks 2006 for $60 - $40 mail in rebate - $20 upgrade rebate = $0
Turbotax Deluxe 2005 for $34.95
Firely OR John Wayne Collection DVD for $4.99 each with purchase of Turbotax Deluxe or higher.
So you can get Firefly + Turbotax = $40 or Firefly + John Wayne + Turbotax = $45......but there are no mail-in rebates.

Can you then return TurboTax?

Probably not. Fry's is pretty automated in their handling of bundle purchases.
And from my local ad it looks to be $39.99 for TurboTax Deluxe + an additional $4.99 for Firefly. And, as mentioned above, this is a bundle purchase. (I don't see the $34.95 price mentioned by mongoco above. But perhaps there are local price variations.)

Edit: Regional pricing variations confirmed below so YMMV.

Yes, I've seen these local price variations before. That makes for an even better deal.

Can none of you read?
Next to "Each" ($4.99 each) is an asterisk. That leads to the right side of the box which clearly says, "With purchase of TurboTax Deluxe 2005 or higher".

Why would anybody want to buy Turbotax 2005? I know that this year's taxes are for 2005, but isn't the product called Turbotax 2006? If not, what is Turbotax 2006?
And before you buy, check out Turbotax's online prices, seem to be more reasonable with no rebates required. (note: Turbotax's online prices as shown on the front page don't include state taxes, but where I live (Illinois) the state taxes are so easy I wouldn't pay anything extra for them anyway).

There is no Turbotax 2006 yet. I made a typo in my original post. That product will be out around December. Keep in mind, the year in the product name is the year you are doing your taxes for. So, Turbotax 2005 is for doing your 2005 taxes.
Maybe you're thinking of Quicken where Intuit always releases the following year's version, i.e. Quicken 2006 was released last year.

If bought individually, Firefly cost $19.95

Visited Fry's in Austin, TX. They claimed that the $4.99 listed price for Firefly and John Wayne set was an error. Correct price for each was $26.99.

A mistake they reprinted in today's ad as well? I think your employee was just confused by the ad.
