Exploitation movies that actually disturb?

I am looking for true "one of the most controversial movies ever made". The ones that live up to the hype and actually disturb. Some were talking in DVDTalk about how this label is just thrown around to any movie that has maybe one scene of grotesque imagery or perhaps just lazy marketing. Some that I have with those labels just disappointed me.

"Cannibal Holocaust" and "I Spit on Your Grave". I am certainly not saying that the subject matter isn't disturbing, but I was looking to be shocked much more.

So what are the truly shocking, grotesque movies that can actually live up to the moniker of "one of the msot controversial movies ever made"?

Not gory, but La Bete has some good stuff in it.

Anne of Green Gables.

They say they used a real corpse for the eye-gouging scene.

Oh, wait. I mean Thriller.

Toys Are Not for Children
Teenage Mother

No gore, but disturbing in their own way. Toys Are Not for Children probably won't appeal to you, since it's the subject matter that's just fucked. Teenage Mother might get you, though.

I found In My Skin more disturbing than any other film I've seen in the past few years.

You might also try the Japanese Guinea Pig series.

its not consitered an exploitation movie, but "mysterious skin" was pretty disturbing in what they actually showed.

Guinea Pig: Flower Flesh and Blood
Cannibal Holocaust
I Spit On Your Grave

have to put my votes in for those 3. I watch a lot of exploitation movies and those always seem to make me feel really uncomfortable.

I agree with the devil's rejects.......I've seen a lot of disturbing shit but that motel scene really gets to me to quote Rob "art is not safe"

Irreversible (you know this one was coming) - I don't care what anyone says, the movie is just plain fucked up.

Once were warriors - Just check it out, not only disturbing, but damn good.

The raging 'fros and butterfly collars are more lethal than the kung fu vs. karate plot. Bruceploitation at its best/worst.

I always found "MANDINGO" to be one of those, "WHAT...THE...FUCK?!" kinda movies. I mean that movie was crazy as hell.

Ichi the Killer - Most of the film is quite humourous (in a morbidly grotesque manor) but there are a few scenes that caused me to flinch.

++ That and the sequel 'Mordum'. I felt like I had done something illegal after watching that - and I'm pretty hardcore.

Guinea Pig isn't a film, it's a series:

Flower of Flesh and Blood is probably the best. Or you could get the Unearthed Films boxset.
