I have an HD WEGA 30 inch, on of those heavy directview tube tvs. My wife wiped it down with water & a paper towel last week to my dismay. Now it seems to always show up with this thin line of dust where she wiped it down, almost like a street. Everytime I take a glasses cleaning cloth and rewipe it to remove the dust it shows up again the next day in the same patter (dusty house I know).

So what's the best way to do this? Thanks!

Might want to try some of that 'Electronics cleaner'. Comes in a spray can.

I have a Sony direct view(tube) set. The glass surface is different than traditional tvs. Moisture does not seem to evaporate, it smears. I spray some glass cleaner on a soft cloth to clean and then wipe moisture off with a dry cloth, or else you just smear the cleaner around. Plus afterward you have to "buff" the streaks out while looking at the screen from the side with the set turned off. Sorta like waxing a car.

I've noticed that cloth rags work much better than paper-towels on my 30" Sanyo.

I was in Best Buy the other night and noticed that Monster puts out a TV screen cleaner. It's a type of micro cloth that you stray the liquid on and wipe down the screen. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if they're more suited for plasmas/lcd's vs. crt/direct. I wish I knew as I just bought a crt tube widescreen, and I was curious as well. I read someone that, for example the sony wega's have a screen that could be damaged by these sprays. Again, I'm too much of a novice in this area and could use some advice as well.

I have been using the monster cleaner for a while for both my crt's and lcd's and have had no problems with it at all. Cleans a ton of stuff off, does not streak all over the place and does what it should.

I use it, and it works well. It's also great for computer monitors.
