Wow. What a title.

scott...dumb comment, man. That added absolutely nothing to this discussion.

As for 9-5...one, I can't understand why this DVD gets the DTS treatment. Two, I can't figure out why it's getting a special edition. And to top it off, it's got the stupidest name for a DVD...ever.

Title is terrible, but I love the movie. I'll be in line the day it comes out to buy it. Actually, come to think of it, I may be the whole line to buy it.

Man, what is your problem? You are threadcrapping in all my posts for no reason. For your information, I recieve most of the new releases info on My Yahoo RRS. So what? I'm passing foward that information, giving credit to the websites, so people like you and me, who collect DVDs, know when X dvd is being released. Really, what is wrong with that?

Don't sweat it dx23, cinephan and I will be thanking you as we're standing in line. Though, he'll probably buy the only copy in the store. :( :D

With the exception of the "S,E,L,H B" tag on the top, I don't have a problem with the cover. Wonder why Lily didn't participate in the commentary.

I'm sick of these lame SE titles. ENOUGH ALREADY! Some marketing weenie thought their idea was cute and apparently no one with any taste stepped in to stop it.

Sexist, Egotistical, Lying, Hypocritcal, & Bigot Edition

OK, this shit's officially got to stop NOW!

At first, I thought this was a joke, but then I see it's for real? Some genius in marketing actaully approved this???

They're just freaking Special Editions. It's like having to listen to some lame-ass at the office who thinks he's funny, but it's freaking printed on the cover of your DVD art!

Looks like they are taking a page from Paramounts dumbly names SE's of movies (Clueless, Airplane, Ferris Bueller)... by naming one of theirs the same way... I can understand why they would pick this quote since the movie revolves around Dabney Colemans character being such an ass... but it is still stupid

I never imagined there'd be a special edition of this (obligatory stupid title mention). I really liked this movie as a kid. I'd love to get this, but I do already own the first, and for nostalgia, I guess that's enough.

This "I think I'm clever a marketeer" title crap has got to stop!
Isn't this FOX's first attempt at this too? So this makes what, 3 studios that do this now! The only bright spot for the future I can see is that Warner(the best studio out there) WILL NOT do this. Well, I can't imagine them doing it, they better not! I think they have too much respect for their catalog, it's pretty evident in the releases they do.

OTOH, the cover art is decent. At least it not a bunch of floating heads and cheesy artwork.

scott1598, this comes across as being quite rude. If you meant it as a joke, then a smilie might have been helpful. Next time, please think about how your comments will sound before you post.

Damn! If people aren't complaining about floating heads or cheesy artwork or stupid SE titles, would there be nothing to post? There are some GREAT DVD Cover sites on the internet that you can either download replacement covers for these dreaded SE titles or get the cover elements to make your own professional looking covers! Open Photoshop, get some legal paper and get to work!! Geez!!

ON topic: Great news! I, for one, am glad to hear of the DTS soundtrack. The original release's sound left a lot to be desired -- there's a low level hiss throughout the entire movie; it's like listening to a VHS! What's the problem with this title being released in DTS? You guys talk like there's a DTS annual quota and this title is taking it away from some other film!

I don't want to sound like a misogynist, but with all the bitching around here, you'd hardly guess that this was a male dominated site!

Correction: It isn't "Sexist, Egotistical, Lying, Hypocritcal, & Bigot Edition" as the OP states...it's "Sexist, Egotistical, Lying, Hypocritical Bigot Edition", as per the cover art. Big difference (the first one is bad grammar), but still stupid.

I think this is partially designed to pull focus onto the new 9 to 5 Broadway musical on which Dolly Parton is currently working.

I wonder why Lily Tomlin isn't involved? A commentary with all three "girls" would have made double-dipping a no brainer. The DTS track, however, is mysterious. Why bother? The only major sound effect is the car crash into the dumpster.

Wow, I'm going to duck as I say this... I actually like the unique titles. To me, it feels like it was done by someone who actually loved the movie. I'm sick of Special, Limited, Special Limited, Ultimate, Special Ultimate, Limited Ultimate, Special Limited Ultimate editions et al.

Yes. However, "bigoted" would be correct, if not exactly how it was worded in the film.

Hold on a second. If the edition is "lying," can we really trust what they say in the commentary?

I remember seeing this movie at a drive-in. Yup, a drive-in. In northern California on a visit to my grandparents.

So, out of fond memories, I may pick this up. It's hokey and definitely dated, but I have caught bits and pieces on TV recently (how ironic!) and it is still entertaining. Gotta love Dabney Coleman in this one!

I've always had a huge soft spot for this movie. Some of the "office politics" stuff hasn't aged all that well, but it's still a VERY funny flick. Some of Coleman's very best work. Looking forward to (maybe) reviewing / (definitely) buying this release, amazingly stupid "SE" moniker and all.

(Why not call it the "mowie wowie edition" or the "So that's why everyone around here treats me like some dime-store floozy. They all think I'm screwing the boss. And you just love it, don't you? It gives you some kind of cheap thrill like knocking over pencils and picking up papers. I've put up with all of your pinching, poking, staring and chasing me around the desk because I need this job. But this is the last straw. I've got a gun out there in my purse. Up until now I've been forgiving and forgetting because of the way I was brought up, but I'll tell you one thing. If you say another word about me or make another indecent proposal, I'm gonna get that gun of mine and I'm gonna change you from a rooster to a hen with one shot. And don't think I can't do it Edition"?)

And maybe the DTS track is there to show off the tunes. This title song was a huge hit, and the score is pretty nifty.

And is this really the 'Sexist, Egotistical, Lying, Hypocritcal, & Bigot Edition,' besides that one charcter's behavior within the movie? Ar the actresses going to being making Sexist, Egotistical, Lying, Hypocritcal, & Bigoted comments throughout the commentary? Are the features all going to offer a Sexist, Egotistical, Lying, Hypocritcal, & Bigoted perspective on the film? Idiotic, I still say.

By the way, get ready for the Ice Age 'Super Cool' Edition from FOX, too. Yeah, not as annoying, but I still hate this cheesy practice.

I honestly don't care what they call these editions, but I just wish they would release them the first time around, especially on older movies. For newer titles coming from the theater, I can kinda understand....rush out a release, capatalize on the rental market, get some early buyers who don't care about bonus features, then bring out the better edition later on after they had time to complie the bonus features for it. But 9 to 5 came to DVD the first time relatively late in the DVD game, so the studio should have had the bonus features already compiled for the release, and there should be no reason to double dip on movies of this nature.

Oh, well. I liked the movie enough to buy it out of a 5.50 Wal Mart bin, but not that much.

Great timing, I was just thinking the other day that I shouldn't have sold this one, and that I should pick it up again. So the SE is a no-brainer for me. I do wish Lily Tomlin was going to be on the commentary too though.

(And while I couldn't care less what they call it, I do love the cover art)
