Firewall (Harrison Ford)-- 2/10/06
Harrison's first movie in 3 years (since the atrocious Hollywood Homicide) comes out on 2/10. Anyone interested or excited? It looks like typical Harrison fare and I'm just hoping it's a helluva lot better than HH.
Here in NYC, they're having a sneak preview through the Learning Annex and Harrison will be there for a Q&A afterwards! All for $20. I'll be there on the 7th.

I saw the preview a while ago, and couldn't get over how bad he looked. He's pretty much on the verge of crossing the line between sexy-old and moldy-old.

Makes me look forward to Indiana Jones 4 even more!

This film, initially titled "The Wrong Element", was partially filmed in Vancouver and in an apartment building where I live.
My wife and I got to see Harrison Ford & Paul Bettany. Boy, are they freakin' tall!!! Ford must be around 6'2" while Bettany must be around 6'4".

Not much hype for me with this movie. Saw the trailer with um, King Kong I think, and just looked so-so. I don't see this being a huge hit, and I think Ford's day of bringing in huge audiences (except Indiana Jones 4) are way over, too bad.
^Artman whats crackin in Bothell? Damn you are like 20 minutes from animal. Nice to see some fellow eastsiders here on DVDT.

hmm...never even heard of this movie, and it's coming out in less than a month? Damn.
There's not much publicity for this at all.

To all who couldn't be there...
Just got back!
I'll be brief. The movie was EXCELLENT. As someone who has been very critical of Harrison for a long time, it is really a return to form.
Lots of shouting and applauding during and after the movie. I believe the audience burst into applause about 4-5 times. It's VERY tense throughout most of the movie and at one point (about 1/3 of the way through, everything is heightened and it really gets going). It never felt long to me...and I would certainly enjoy seeing it again. The audience really seemed to love it.
Harrison came out (with the green scarf) after the movie was over and there was about a 40 minute chit-chat between he and Joel.
Honestly, nothing interesting came out of it that I can remember. Mostly stories I've heard 1000 times. But still good to hear him despite the microphones not working too well.
I sat next to a woman who flew from England JUST for that Q&A. She loved the movie and was ecstatic. I also sat in the 3rd row behind the man who played Tennis with Harrison from Regarding Henry up until 6D7N. Harrison shook his hand and said hello after it was over.
A great night!

Best Buy has a free ticket to see Firewall if you buy their 2 DVD pack of Presumed Innocent and Frantic for $6.99 which is probably cheaper than what the movie ticket costs by itself.

I will say this: the trailer made me not interested at all in seeing the movie. I'm a huge Harrison fan and I was afraid of another Hollywood Homocide. This is pretty slick but pretty old-fashioned as well. It's got the trickery of Clear and Present Danger and the tension of some other movies as well. Again, I was with it right from the beginning and then, about 1/3 of the way in, it kicks into high gear and keeps going. Virginia Madsen and Paul Bettany are very good as well. Virginia doesn't have a ton to do but you can't help but like her.
