Thanks for the post, I'll have to go check this out as I liked the truncated version, but wished for more.

I loved the theatrical cut at 144 minutes - I wonder how much I would like the more fleshed out DC at 180 minutes.

I enjoyed the theatrical cut as fluffy eye candy, even though it felt like there were serious gaps in the storytelling.

Same. For a while I was afraid they wouldn't release the longer cut on DVD, but since they're releasing it in the theaters, I think that pretty much guarantees it.

Good. I was wondering how long I'd have to wait for the DC.

anyone heading to the Laemmles Fairfax should take the opportunity to see Paradise Now instead.

This is why I want to see the DC. I liked the theatrical cut but felt like a lot of the story was left out. I'm hoping this DC will fill in the gaps.

I thought the theatrical cut was great, but not as good as (what I hope) the director's cut will be...the TC felt like pieces were missing, character arcs were completed prematurely and details that needed attention weren't given any...hopefully the DC will enhance these small problems and make what I thought was a good film even better.

I'm in the same boat... I really enjoyed the TC, but it was clear that chunks were missing. I'm pretty confident I'll love the DC.

There's a review of it up at AICN: http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=22100

According to www.davisdvd.com there will be a multi-disc release of it in 2006.

Thanks for the links. I thought Scott lost it when I saw this movie. Now it all makes sense. There's a lot of character development that were chopped.
