Just got myself an Ipod video, and its frozen on the main menu, backlight is turned on, cant cycle through options, and battery level is not going down or up when i plug it in.
any suggestions other than returning it.
Reset it. Hold "Menu" and the middle button until the apple logo appears.
If that doesn't work, why wouldn't you return it?
I go an iPod Nano that would randomly reboot for no reason. After a few months of that, I took it to the Apple store and they swapped it right there for a brand new one.
Seems like the way to go for that kind of problem.
To help your problem, is it recognized by your computer? Can you run the software update and reset it back to factory settings?

My current iPod has done that once or twice, the "reset" thing fixes it. As long as it only happens rarely I wouldn't worry about it. I have yet to own any brand of HDD MP3 player that didn't freeze up once in awhile.
