Christmas CD I made for the office holiday party

Ok... I have about 30 Christmas CD's, went through them all the past few days, made a 79 min, 47 second mix with 28 tracks.

Posting it to give others ideas (or to perfect it for next year)

For the most part, I tried not to use too much 'religious' music. Only to not offend others.

In alpha order by song title.

Here goes:

1) All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth - Spike Jones

(not too silly or bizarre, pretty much a classic)

2) All I Want For Christmas Is You - Mariah Carey

(Modern classic)

3) Blue Christmas - Elvis Presley

(Someday I want to get the one with the Porky Pig soundalike, can't find it)

4) Christmas Time Is Here - Vince Guaraldi Trio

(Just classic. Almost used Linus and Lucy but that's in most every Peanuts special, so it's not just a Christmas song)

5) Donde Esta Santa Claus - Augie Rios

(Kinda obscure, cute track. Something I read said he was only 10 in 1958 when this was recorded. Anyone know if he made any more records?)

6) Feliz Navidad - Jose Felicano

(Just a coincedence that both bilingual tracks I picked ended up back to back. But love it or hate it, it's still a classic)

7) Frosty the Snowman - Brady Bunch

(I know a lot of people think Jimmy Durante or the Jackson 5, but Susan Olsen at age six is just so darned cute.)

8) Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer - Elmo & Patsy

(Modern classic.)

9) Grown Up Christmas List - Amy Grant

(My all time favorite non religious Christmas song, didn't know until recently that Amy is the original artist, I have two or three other versions of this as well.)

10) Here Comes Santa Claus - Gene Autry

(Why not? Everybody knows the words, or most of 'em at least.)

11) Holly Jolly Christmas - Burl Ives

(Just a real feel good song.)

12) I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus - Little Jimmy Boyd

(Hard to believe that when this song was released, it was considered risque.)

13) It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas - Bing Crosby

(Some people like the Perry Como version better, I like Bing.)

14) It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year - Andy Williams

(Great song.)

15) Jingle Bell Rock - Bobby Helms

(One of the quintessential Rock n' Roll Christmas tracks)

16) Little Drummer Boy/Peace On Earth - Bing Crosby & David Bowie

(Strange pairing works. Just beautiful.)

17) Little Saint Nick - The Beach Boys

(Just fun Christmas pop.)

18) Merry Christmas Darling - The Carpenters.

(What a voice. Shocking to think she's been gone almost 23 years.)

19) Nuttin' For Christmas - Barry Gordon

(Cute and funny. Coulda used the Spike Jones version, but it's a little too over the top.)

20) Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree - Brenda Lee

(see comment for track #15)

21) Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer - Gene Autry

(Yet another track everyone knows. Plus my dad's name is Rudolph.)

22) Run, Rudolph, Run - Chuck Berry

(Fun variation on the original)

23) The Chipmunk Song - Ross Bagdasarian

(Don't you just want to give Alvin a hula hoop?)

24) The Christmas Song - Nat King Cole

(They don't call him 'King' for nothin')

25) The Little Drummer Boy - Harry Simeone Chorale

(Classic.)

26) White Christmas - Bing Crosby

(Ditto.)

27) White Christmas - The Drifters

(an upbeat version of a classic becomes a classic.)

28) Wonderful Christmastime - Paul McCartney & Wings

(The kind of song that gets stuck in your head.)

Rejected tracks, because I couldn't really find 'definitive versions' I really liked:

Winter Wonderland, Sleigh Ride, Please Come Home For Christmas, I'll Be Home For Christmas, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

This CD will be played at the party Thursday. I'll post again if it gets any positive/negative comments.

I made one for all our employees last year and it was played at both last year's and this year's holiday parties. Here's the track listing...

1. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - U2
2. Everything's Gonna Be Cool This Christams - The Eels
3. Bizarre Christmas Incident - Ben Folds
4. Merry Christmas Baby - Bruce Springsteen
5. Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! - Harry Connick, Jr.
6. Winter Wonderland - Phantom Planet
7. We Three Kings - Fuel
8. The Lonely Jew on Christmas - South Park (this was requested by our sole Jewish employee)
9. Christmas - Blues Traveler
10. Maybe This Christmas - Ron Sexsmith
11. Blue Christmas - Sheryl Crow
12. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Frank Sinatra
13. Christmas With You - Johnny Cash
14. I'll Be Home For Christmas - The Beach Boys
15. 12/23/95 - Jimmy Eat World
16. Ave Maria - Chris Cornell
17. Carol of the Bells - Gary Hoey
18. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - Death Cab For Cutie (the version's different enough from U2's that I didn't feel bad having the song appear 2x)
19. Happy Xmas (War Is Over) - John Lennon
20. What Are You Doing New Year's Eve? - Harry Connick, Jr.
21. What a Year for a New Year - Dan Wilson
22. Auld Lang Syne - The Beach Boys
23. Christmas with the Devil - Spinal Tap
