NBC Cuts Pamela Anderson Pole Dance Video
Was it really that big a deal? I think we are headed down the wrong path here. In the near future everything on broadcast network is going to be watered down. Will we be able to watch football anymore with the sometimes violent hits shown, and replayed in slo-mo? Where will it all end?

LOS ANGELES - Pamela Anderson and pole dancing proved too hot for NBC, which dropped a number featuring the actress in a sexy big-screen video from an Elton John special.
"Elton John: The Red Piano," a Las Vegas extravaganza taped at Caesars Palace, aired Monday night without the segment in which John sang "The Bitch is Back" while an oversized screen behind him displayed a scantily clad Anderson.
The actress moved suggestively around a dance pole in the number, which was included in preview copies sent out to critics.
After an assessment by its standards and practices department the network decided the material didn't mesh with the time slot.
"We believed the content was not appropriate for 8 p.m.-7 central time and decided to pull the song from the special," NBC said in a statement Tuesday.
A call seeking comment from Anderson, who stars in the Fox sitcom "Stacked," was not immediately returned Tuesday.
Left intact were Elton John classics including "Daniel" and "Rocket Man," as well as another big-screen video that featured Justin Timberlake as a young Elton.
Pop star Timberlake is no stranger to TV controversy: He was part of Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction" during the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show, in which her breast was briefly exposed when Timberlake yanked on her costume.

What else would you expect? Ever since janet, everyone has had there panties in a bunch worrying about material that is to obscene. But where will it end? How do you know if the content is over the line? I have yet to see the set list of rules of what you can and cannot do. Do these people realize there is more then one channel, and if you dont like what is playing on that network, they do have the option to change the channel. God damnit all of this just makes me sick. I do not know why anyone else is fighting against this besides Howard Stern. Which he is doing on the radio side of it and leaving FM radio, which in turn will cost a lot of compaines a lot of money because they did not fight for what is indecent and what is not.

at least Comedy Central had the balls to air her recent roast featuring lingering shots of her very see-through mesh blouse....*drool*
speaking of, any news on a DVD of that coming soon uncensored? I never laughed so hard....literally. Ouch. Sorry.

Doesn't say uncensored, but I'd assume it will be.

Pornography is not hard to find folks. By virtue of your being able to read this message, you are mere seconds and a few clicks away from all that your heart desires.

[Lumberg]Yeah...[/lumberg] after seeing that pic, I'm going to side with the network on this one. I'm all for that kind of entertainment, but on network TV at 7PM in a pop music concert? I think they did the right thing.
They still allow lots of dick jokes on most of the 7PM sitcoms though, so I don't know who gets to decide where the line is drawn.

I didn't know Elton John had a song called "The Bitch Is Back". I have no idea how it goes, but I imagine some of the lyrics might be:
Ding dong, the bitch is back.
Which old bitch?
The big t*t bitch!
Ding dong, the bitch is back.
The big t*t bitch is ba-ack!
Ding dong, the bitch is back.

Yes, Comedy Central aired the roast uncensored on the original airdate week's Saturday night (they always air uncensored movies and specials around midnight on Saturdays)

Why didn't they just air it at 10 PM anyhow? Its not as if the youngsters are gathering around to watch a bloated Elton. And he can't even hit the high notes anymore. Daniel was pretty sad - 1st tune and I was out.
That being said, the man is one of the most gifted songwriters in history. Up until the end of the 70's at least.

I find whining about the horrors of censorship because a strip-tease pole dance was cut from a 7 pm network broadcast pretty laughable.

Then they came for the Communists and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me."
First they made Howard Stern [BaBaBooey!] go to Sirius and I did not speak out because I was not a fan of retards and lesbians.
Then they kept me from seeing Pam Anderson's pole dance...
Next thing y'know, the FCC wil be trying to apply broadcast channel decency standards to basic cable.
