My Grandmother recently died and left a few L. Ron Hubbard books to the family. I have been trying to figure out how much we can get for them, but so far have not had any luck. Is there a place online where I could go to find out how much I should ask for these books? Or maybe a place where people post want ads/ sell ads? These books cost a lot in the 80s (3300 apiece for the two Battlefield Earths I have) so I need places where people are willing to drop some serious cash (hopefully).

You got a way to get in touch with Tom Cruise's publicist?

Addall Search For "Signed L Ron Hubbard Battlefield Earth": <a href="http://used.addall.com/SuperRare/submitRare.cgi?author=L+Ron+Hubbard&title=Battlefield+Earth&keyword=+Signed&isbn=&order=TITLE&ordering=ASC&dispCurr=USD&binding=Any+Binding&min=&max=&timeout=20&match=Y&StoreAbebooks=on&StoreAlibris=on&StoreAntiqbook=on&StoreBiblio=on&StoreBiblion=on&StoreBibliophile=on&StoreBibliopoly=on&StoreBooksandcollectibles=on&StoreHalf=on&StoreILAB=on&StoreMaremagnum=on&StorePowells=on&StoreStrandbooks=on&StoreZVAB=on" target="_blank">Linky</a>

It sounds like you probably have one of the limited leatherbound copies, which are more expensive than the standard books.. though nowhere near $3300.

Is your copy signed and numbered in a slipcase? I found one of those for sale for quite a bit. The problem is, this would be a rare, but very low demand, collectible.

Your best bet is to find a book dealer who sells stuff like this and ask them what they'll give you. Chances are it will be but a fraction of any price you see online.

Good luck!

I've always wanted to read Battlefield Earth. I'll give you $10 for one.

Try Alibris (www.alibris.com). I've bought a lot of OOP books from there in the past. I've never sold there, so I have no idea what kind of pricing you can get.

Edit: You could also try Powells. They are a huge bookstore in Portland, Oregon. I try to drop by whenever I'm out that way. I know they buy a lot of OOP/collectible books as well.
